Dear Nigel, I am more and more inclined as time passes to invest. It’s such a huge project though that it would be hard to build at my desk. If I buy, I’ll find a way! Good to see your update today as I have found your series on this most compelling. Kind regards, Z

Thanks for this update Nigel. I appreciate what you, and now Carl, have done for this and the Dambusters kit. I had real high hopes for this kit when Wingnut announced it and then when Border resurrected it. I am a huge Dambusters fanatic as well so I was really hoping for this kit to be accurate and errors you had pointed out on the original would be fixed. I know in my heart I would love to get it but at around 900 plus Canadian dollars and with all the extra work to get it accurate it would end up a shelf queen as it would sap me of my modelling mojo. I know we as modellers have to expect some work to get a good and accurate kit but sometimes I just don’t have the patience anymore. I am hoping that the HK 1/48th Dambusters will be accurate enough. Cheers mate and thanks again, keep it up.

You should get the kit Dave.. it really is worth the work. When you actually see the turrets, cockpit and engine detail it is astounding. It only seems like a lot of work as it is full of very delicate parts that need a lot of TLC to get perfect, and remember.. I have done all the experimenting so it wont be as hard for you. I have spent literally days on the canopy framing.. the next will take me half an hour.

Hello Nigel from Melbourne (AU)...I just checked the "date stamp" on your Part 1 Lancanster Build (Engines) and its 29/3/22 and it obvious your mind is occupied with the A-20...Iam impressed with cockpit framing, if I were building I think I would leave the canopy off as the cockpit detail is something special...I suspect that a handfull of ppl in Oz who have completed the Lanc but havent posted pics of videos for us to see...

I'm sure you'll find a use for them, they are accurately subtle, but they don't match the sharp raised detail all over the Border Lanc. I also tried the Micro Mark rivets, they were too big!!

Hi Nige. Interesting that you mention about suppliers being somewhat lacking when it comes to communicating with their customers. I'm having frustrating issues with ASK myself. They never respond to my emails, no communication regarding shipping or dispatch notices. Very annoying considering I'm sending them so much money. The least they can do is send a quick email acknowledgement. Seriously considering never using ASK again. Have you ever had issues with them?

I do know at the moment they have a staffing issue due to illness. Petr is an extremely busy guy and often takes a while to respond to my emails and I am one of his reviewers!!

Nige: Border might not want to release the date because it is proprietary information, they probably will when the date is near.

Nigel, you may find the HGW rivets to be too faint in contrast to the moulded ones. In that case, an alternative may be Eduard's recent release of rivet lines (single, double, and triple). Quinta studio have also released some not that long time ago. I think both of these are more pronounced than the HGW.
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench 8 ай бұрын
You are correct Sir. I have tried the Micro scale ones and they are too big so have ordered Archer and Quinta. I believe Archer will be the best due to very thin decal film.

Great video Nigel. I read Carl had used Archer rivets in the magazine, but you mentioned HGW. Which specific product/product number did you opt for? Obviously at 1/32 scale..
@NigelsModellingBench
@NigelsModellingBench 8 ай бұрын
The HGW actually didn't work out as they are not a good match for the rivets on the kit. I have ordered in some Archer and Quintas rivets now.

Nice to see you still chipping away at the Lanc Nige! I have to pick up some of that fishing line… game changer! Two questions, I bought HGW seatbelts for a Ww1 plane and they did not have the adhesive backing like some of them do? They are also not laser cut. I had to trim them out with a blade. I used the glue you had recommended by VMs, but the backing seemed a little slick and caused them to not glue so well. I did clamp and hold them in place. I’m not certain they will hold when I work on them again. What do you think I’m doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you suggest a Lanc besides the border model (1/32 is too big), I think 1/72 would be my idea, what would that be Tamiya, Hong Kong or another company?

Hi Ron, the reason your comment doesn't show is because I have the comments set for review. I have tried to give you permission to allow your comments without review but YT won't let me?? As for a walk through video, yes I can do that, but I wont be adding clips of the build, it would take weeks to make mate.
