I love how calmly you explain every detail, even when you experience the unexpected. Never too old to learn. Thank you.

Nige - fantastic beginner video. I can only underline the need to be patient when assembling any model, and always pay attention to the detail. A part which is out of alignment at the beginning, unless addressed at the time, will compound the errors later on, sometimes with the result that the fuselage halves just don’t fit! There are some really bad kits out there that require ALOT of work. Check, measure, check again and always dry fit. Well done and thanks

If you're watching in the US and there is a Harbor Freight near you I bought a pair of cutters there for 5 or 6 dollars and theyre fantastic. Sally's beauty supply also has some high quality nail files/sanding sticks

Thanks very much for these videos Nigel. They're not just an interesting watch, they're a good reference - nobody improves in one hurricane, it's a long journey! So I see me watching them several times. Thanks again.

Nigel, I’m taking your advice and restarting my modeling adventure with the Tamiya 1/48 spitfire model # 61032. A two sprue wonder. I’ve also purchased, based on Mos’s video, a Ammo MiG solution box. All in all l’ve spent too much money for all the tools, but I’m retired now and hope to get my grandchildren interested in building too. Keep up the great work. You are one of my go to teachers! Thanks much. 😊

This little kit seem fun to build, with lot of parts. I am sure the final result will be outstanding.

Nigel, at about 38:20 into the video it looks like you pulled out your sharp pointing tool (that I think you use to "reinstall" rivet detail) to probe the undercarriage wall being glued to the lower wing. You asked to be reminded if you used a tool you had not introduced at the very beginning, so I'm being the troublemaker here, and doing so 🙂 Otherwise, what a really great intro video for the first-time modeller!

You are correct Tron.. I do this all through the series.

Thanks to channels like yours I started my first model in 22 years. It was a tandem build of Gundam models that my son was interested in building. Thank you for reinvigorate me.

Dear Nigel, Another well put together and presented show for the beginner- nicely done! I suspect that the undercarriage bays will match the lower surface colour in much the same manner as the Spitfires did at the same time. I am doing some research just now on this matter. Regards, Z

Thanks Zin. i believe the bays on hurricanes were painted aluminium as was most of the cockpit.

Nige, I have been using clothes pegs as clamps for ages and never thought to flip the parts over like that. We never stop learning, do we? Good series this, I’m sure I’ll pick up other new tricks and maybe even discover some bad habits in my technique. 👍🏻

Have seen on U toob someone cutting a triangular piece of cardboard from the box and using it to apply the glue from the tube, seems the best way to use it. He seemed to get a good bit of control.
@NigelsModellingBench10 ай бұрын
That's a good idea, however, I don't use it because it doesn't work very well.

Hi Nigel, if i were to start with a 1/48 Hurricane, which kit would you recommend? (I don't even know how many are our there!) PS I have a real soft spot for the Hurri) Thanks in advance Oh also meant to say really good beginner vid on building correctly not just slinging it together like i used to in my youth 😊 looking forward to the others in series
@NigelsModellingBench10 ай бұрын
If you are new to the hobby, definitely get the Airfix kit, but, without a doubt the best on the market is the Arma hobbies 1/48 Hurri.

@@NigelsModellingBench oh dilemma 😁 its been many many years so not a total nube but want to learn how to model to a good standard especially painting and finishing (your fault 😁) They do a mkIIc in Tucks colours I have the 1958 edition of his story 'Fly for your life' he's a real hero of mine and I need that kit!! But maybe a step too far right now, hmm... think I'll buy it, check it out and stash for later if too complex 🤔 Thanks for the reply and info cheers
@NigelsModellingBench10 ай бұрын
Not necessarily a complex kit, just a bit pricey to practice on if you're a newbie.
