Some lifts in Watford Town Centre w/ Michal M

Been a while since I last uploaded a lift video, last week I went to Watford to meet Michal and filming the lifts in the town centre. This is not considered a lift tour in my opinion as I only filmed a fraction of the lifts and most of it was in the town centre. Enjoy!

Good to see they've kept the Ecodiscs in Next Home, I couldn't imagine if they replaced it into a Techno XD.

It would have been pretty pointless, Debenhams had those lifts installed about 3 years ago when they opened their new shop.

There is another next in the shopping centre with a Tecno so I highly doubt these will be replaced any time soon, but yes it's good they kept them

Sadly it is going to be modded or replaced. Rubax will be modernising it. Not to worry Rubax is a very good generic lift company. They modded some lifts in a car park near me and they are really efficient.

All 3 sets of main lifts have been modded, however the 2 tucked away lifts are original.

It would be epic if they kept the Schindlers original but at the same time, the mod isn't bad. They're still really nice and fast and look very well built. The only downsides of it is the levelling which is just eeek and that they the disabled pre-doors! Who would want to do that?!

Also those Charters Car Park lifts were modded in 2017 unless the year on the indicator's wrong.

the charter car park lifts reopened in 2018 when the charter place area was finished being rebuilt.

The lifts were most likely finished modernisation in 2017 and were opened in 2018

By the looks of things, there was another H&M there before the new part was built. Do you know of it had a lift and if yes, what type?

I think it does have a lift, and it would most definitely be a Monospace with KSC D20 or D40 fixtures

@@LondonAndSouthEastTransport The new one has a D20, but before the new part with Hollywood Bowl and Cineworld on it was built, there was an old H&M inside the main part of the shopping centre. Any ideas as to what lift it had?

3:28 that specific original 1980s Schindler M-Series lift has now been modernised by generic company Crest Lifts Limited this year (2023). The grotty 1980s Schindler M-Series lift has been turned off by the looks of it.

Sad, I never got to film the Schindlers which is a shame. Do you know what controller the new Crest lift uses?

Knowing Next they will probably replace the Kone at some point with a Tecno. I hope they don’t as it isn’t that old and it goes with the store’s design.

There is another Next in this shopping centre which has a Tecno so they're not going for a while I don't think

They probably won't. There's no point. They're very new and good quality lifts. There would be no point in replacing them, it would just be a waste of money. Also, that store is a Next Beauty And Home concept store whilst the other one is a normal Next store so both will probably stay open. Also, in the 2 other Next Beauty And Home stores, (Milton Keynes and Reading, which are also both in former Debenhams units), they haven't replaced the Otis 2000VF lifts that are a lot older than these.

Update: Next have opened 2 regular stores in the former H&M and John Lewis At Home units in Harrogate and Newbury. The Schindler from H&M Harrogate is still operating not it's Next and I'm expecting the GeN2 from John Lewis At Home in Newbury will also still be operating now it's Next. Next don't tend to replace lifts when they move into units.
