I'm back but not really don't expect anything because SMT V is out on Thursday and then I have an exam on Friday. Just a side note I was going to address how walking past enemies rather than running past made it so that they wouldn't attack you and how different is was in each game. The conclusion came that it's really effective in Yakuza 5 and in like every other game is the same in that they just *don't* detect you at a range that's so far away that you may as well just run away from them so yeah that mechanic sucks. That's what some of that random background footage was going to be. Would've also had this out way earlier but like I said in a community post a bit back I was just having a shit load of PC issues and also Premiere Pro 2022 is insanely bad like OH my god.

God, these little inconsistencies are really interesting every time. The karaoke place in Kiwami 2, looking back on it now after playing the entire series in chronological order, IS really weird.

This might also be a licensing thing, the Karaokekan building is on Nakamichi street's equivalent in real life and they just licensed the rights to the building in 2016.

@@futabamajima It was also opened in that location at around the same time, so I'm pretty sure it was actually moved to help the new location's business. That makes 2 in Kabukicho, the first one I'm pretty sure being down the street from the theater, aka Millennium Tower. I don't think it's far enough to be on Senryo, but it is to the east, so I guess it's close enough to where the games had it back when their only Karaokekan was there

The removal of the Sotenbori park has been a thing that annoyed me most, it was a nice area. Supposedly it's still there but the way is now blocked. Also the Purgatory path was quite stupid. When I was exploring Y6 for the first time, I saw the sewers and the path and I was like cool, this will take me to Purgatory, might hit up the casino and... what~!? What am I doing at the hotel district!? It seems Purgatory just vanished from existence since Y6. BTW GREAT music choices. Midtown Roars was great as a BGM. MOAR TEKKEN OST PLZ~!

Like seriously, Kiryu shows up in kamurocho looking for info and he goes here and there and everywhere while the whole time I'm screaming GO TO PURGATORY YOU DUMB SHIT and then boom apparently it just fucking disappeared with no explanation and it's never mentioned.

Something weird i noticed recently is that during the finale of Yakuza 5, after y'know who shoots Kiryu and Saejima. Kiryu's gunshot wound is present (and even reopens) during the final fight, but Saejima's disappears completely, even when his fight with Majima is even sooner, not even a band-aid lol

My headcanon with the sewers thing is that while Kiryu was in prison, Kamurocho's northern part started going through some sort of general revitalization thing which is why the champion district and Park Boulevard were locked off. That would also explain the sudden appearance of Hills garden and why the Hotel District is now more to the west. While the Hotel District was reconstructed, Purgatory was discovered by the authorities and that's why the Florist isn't in the games anymore

im really glad someone else noticed yagami jumping down the stairs in lost judgment for just no reason, it always happened to me in the school on the topic of sprinting though, fist of the north star lost paradise doesn't have any sprint function despite being post dragon engine (although not in dragon engine itself but) and kenshiro turns around super slowly sometimes with how his animations are

the thing is that in Japanese version he worked similar to Dragon Engine where if you don't press X he just walking instead of running they patched that by adding options to always running or not but in English version the options is on by default

Always when I play dragon engine titles one thing annoice me. Nakamichi Alley. In previous titles it was plus-shaped and now it's weirdly moved. I know that it was change so it looks more like Tokyo but now when you play games in chronological order you jump from plus in y0 and kiwami to new shape in kiwami 2 and then back to plus in y3-y5.

The thing with the stairs is because of that new like turning animations they added in LJ to make sharp turns quicker. As long as you’re in that new turn run animation you can make the stair glitch happen consistently

In lost judgement using a heat action to finish a boss or group of enemies during a story section no longer gives you that cool slow motion effect. It wasn't like this in judgment or other yakuza games.

I think the reason why they did this was because the slow mo actually broke some ragdolls (especially noticeable in judgment). Finishing fights with ex blasting kick and tiger finishing bow were especially notable as the enemy would lose all momentum and fall out of the air after the slow mo

i think they messed up soutenbori in k2 because they just modelled it after the yakuza 2 version, instead of the better developed y5 version. its a real shame, especially because they didn't change it for LAD.

On the topic of sprinting, when I started Yakuza 6 and I realized my movement options where "slow as a turtle" or "Kiry should have quit smoking a long time ago" I said "fuck that", brought cheat engine and maxed that shit put instantly
