Happy Bday to your adorable daughter. I've got a wide variety of ornamental grasses. Also, I recentIy purchased a ton of plants to store away until warmer temps.. This is really my first time to overwinter a lot of plants inside, upstairs in the bathroom next to a window.. and in our unheated guest flat. We ordered a 5 meter greenhouse that we can heat, andit will go against the wall with the fireplace on the other side.. So excited for this.. But, won't be delivered until the dead of winter so waiting til spring to put it up.. I bought gingers, hardy bananas, a few fatsias, a scheflerra, a feijao, two yuzus and an mume, which is neither a plum nor apricot.. My garden is a japanese garden transforming into a tropical Japanese one.. Can't wait til May!! Thanks for your inspirational videos. Cheers.. Leesa in France..

Thank you very much again Leesa! Fantastic, grasses are such a versatile and beautiful addition to our gardens aren't they and it sounds like you've picked up a very interesting mix of exotic plants to grow with them. Good luck with all the plants you're looking after and I bet it'll fly by as you're counting down the days to getting the greenhouse up and your tropical garden plans in full swing again! Thanks for your kind words and I hope you have a great weekend.

I had no idea how fast the years passed until I had my son (now 4). I can't believe how quickly time flies by now! Great video! I am now tempted to buy more plants... not sure where I'd plant them...

Thanks Jim and you're certainly right! Time went fast for me before and it's certainly not slowing down now! Haha yes, that's the battle isn't it, don't let insignificant factors like not having any space put you off...

Ahh thanks Julie, I'm so pleased you liked it. She was singing away before bed the other night so I brought my little mic in to catch this! We've got a weekend of fun plans and parties lined up - I imagine I'll be ready for bed by Sunday evening!

Ahh thanks Vanessa, we think so too but we are slightly biased! We've got a weekend of birthday activities planned which I'm sure will be exciting and tiring in (maybe) equal measures...

Hi george. As usual very iteresting video. When it started i sounded like the haribo advert on tv !, but it was harriet🤣. Doesnt time fly , shes growing up quickly. Not had a lot of rain down here in kent, but wont hold me breath. All best Steve🌴.
@GeorgesJungleGarden8 сағат бұрын
Hi Steve and thanks. Haha yes, definitely Harriet and not me doing my Haribo voice! It certainly does, just whooshes by doesn't it. To be honest we haven't had much rain here either but had one miserable day last weekend and a lot of the wet mist I featured in the intro. Hopefully you don't get too cold next week! All the best, George

You chose some really amazing plants! I just checked the Iris sp, these pale blue flowers look so beautiful (besides the foliage). I like the 5 of them of course! You look so excited! HBD Babygirl! Take care George.🙋🌧
@GeorgesJungleGarden8 сағат бұрын
Thank you so much Bernard and yes - the flowers of the Iris do have a dainty beauty that I probably wasn't giving them credit for, but for me the main attraction is the wide bamboo-like foliage. Hopefully it fits in well with my other plants here. Thanks a lot and I hope you have a great weekend!

A gorgeous start to your video with your sweet little girl. Some beautiful new plants George. I love the Pinus Engelmannii - such a stunning tree. I haven’t purchased much this year but did treat myself to a Brugmansia of which I am in love with. I have enjoyed all of your garden tours this year but I am really looking forward to seeing how your garden projects are coming along. Sending Harriet magical and happy birthday wishes. Xxx
@GeorgesJungleGarden8 сағат бұрын
Thank you so much Samantha! Isn't the engelmannii a beauty, I'm saving it for somewhere with the room for it to really show off (hopefully). Fantastic, when Brugmansia are in full flower they're absolutely show-stopping aren't they! I'll definitely be making more time to improve and film my garden progress next year, just a bit of tidying and preparations over winter before I get into it. Thank you, we've got an activity-filled weekend ahead of us!

Loving the intro and the new plants ! That Pinus Engelmannii looks really cool and certainly something a little different. I have a standard form Pinus Nigra, that was nothing really to look at initially, but over the years it has become quite large, forming a nice evergreen backdrop that give a good amount of privacy. Heracleum Lehmannianum I am not so tempted by lol
@GeorgesJungleGarden8 сағат бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, I do enjoy pines with something a little bit different and nigra etc. can really develop character with age that can absolutely have an exotic or Mediterranean vibe along with the screening / evergreen practical benefits. As for the Heracleum, yes, I know it's probably not one for everybody (and maybe not for me!) but I'm giving the stature and size of the thing a chance to see if it works well here! I don't really like the 'early' flowering aspect though and the idea of it going over before my tropical stuff really gets going but we'll see...

What are the plants that are all over here 7:08 with yellow flowers all over them are they a type of foxglove? In Nicks garden is it ?
@GeorgesJungleGardenКүн бұрын
Hi, yes, they’re Digitalis ferruginea in the Pan Global Garden, I think we spoke about them in the middle of that vid while we were near the Agaves.

Looking forward to seeing your journey in the garden! Still need visit to Mark’s garden though! Anything tropical related is new this year as I only started in July with the exception of a Trachy that my neighbours left in my care couple of years ago.🌴🌴
@GeorgesJungleGarden8 сағат бұрын
Hi Daphne and thanks - don't worry, I'll still be visiting Mark's I'm sure (plus maybe him coming here!). Fantastic, it's very exciting getting into your tropical gardening adventure isn't it, I hope the winter is kind for us both.
@jimbailey3705Күн бұрын
In terms of what I am hoping to pick up in the Autumn sales: more trachy's... I want to stick them in pots (not ideal for them, I know), but the house builder, some 35 years ago, decided to put concrete walkways up against the house and garage and as tempted as I am to rip them out... that hasn't happened yet, so it won't happen anytime soon, so I should just invest in lots of pots!
@GeorgesJungleGarden9 сағат бұрын
Sounds like a plan Jim and you won't go wrong with Trachys - especially at autumn sale prices! They'll be fine in pots for a good few years with some TLC and I'm sure will grow well for you, ready for if your garden plans change...

Great advice as usual George, I bought the miscanthus sinensis strictus this year which is a awesome addition to my little piece of paradise . I like the look of that Iris ,I've been looking for a tropical leave plant like that for ages .Thanks mate 👍
@GeorgesJungleGarden8 сағат бұрын
Thanks a lot Paul, I do like the sinensis (and a lot of Miscanthus really!). The Iris will fit in really well with your plants, it's grass like in form but with the wider leaves that really have an exotic impact.
@PaulConnor1005 сағат бұрын
@GeorgesJungleGarden I think so to George, close to the stream where Iris's would grow naturally and with that exotic touch .

All the Heracleum have the same sap, as do a lot of other plants in their family. I wouldn't risk it with your little one

Hi, thanks for the advice, I appreciate you mentioning that may be a concern. I was obviously going off Nick's advice but for my own piece of mind I will do some more research!
