Honestly this song just reminds me of finding yourself and who you are. Asking yourself what do you stand for and wondering how everyone else is finding themselves as well. Just being aware of that too. I also think it's about how when you get your dream career or if you are living your dream, the sacrifices you have to take to get there. This includes leaving friends and family, selling things, etc. Living your dream life requires a bunch of trade off decisions and sometimes, you fear that you'll regret some of your actions. You meet some great people while living your dream though and you're living it with them. So yeah that's just my perspective.

This song captures that deep sense of searching for purpose that so many of us feel. It reminds me of how, in the Church, we often talk about being children of God and how understanding that can give us a sense of belonging and direction. Even when we’re unsure of what we stand for, we can find strength in the idea that God knows our potential and has a plan for us. Life is full of questions, but faith often brings peace, even when the answers aren’t clear. It's the LDS church, and it brings me a lot of peace:).

Just thought about how he said that when he heard songs they sounded like swans. The only thing elegant about swans is their looks. Everything else about them is the total opposite. He just roasted all music artists on the radio at that time this was on the radio, with out them even knowing it. Well played, sir, well played.
@hufflepuffsith54655 жыл бұрын
Well, there's that, but there's also the common belief that just before they die, swans let out one final song. That's where the term swan's song came from
@Paidnotspaid4205 жыл бұрын
Plus swans sound like "HOOnnK HOnOoNNnkK"
@serviceman6135 жыл бұрын
he's talking aboiut a swan song an allusion to the proverbial two word phrase "swan song" as in the last thing done or said before you die as this is what the phrase hearkens back to. tldr swans "sing" one final time right before they die according the urban legend, and each song sounds like the last he'll hear.

3:11 I know some people don’t like the autotune in this song, but I think it serves a real creative purpose. It emphasises the disconnect and conflict he feels between how he perceives himself and who he really is.

My best friend introduced me to this song about 10 years ago, during a really dark period. I said “yeah, whatever, the poppy radio song”, but then I noticed the lyrics. Well, here we are 10 years on, darkest period of my life, and I stumble across this song again. Totally different perspective, and……goddamnit this is a well-written song. If you accept to not take everything literally, this song could apply to (and probably inspire) a lot of people in a lot of f’d situations. Hang in there! 🫠
