I can't believe I'm sitting here at my computer watching a guy in Japan weed whacking...and I hate weed whacking...🤣

u da rock* by applying the traditional & most common local way of removing the grasses w/ engine trimmer! Interested to know why u not using blades not chose to use nylon cutters instead? btw, i found the new electric trimmer very expensive so I'm sticking to mixed fuel type too. Cheers

The grass composts down in 2 weeks instead of 6 months using the string and the way i cut it.

Lol ! Mate, you are like a real Japanese brush cutter/weed wacker dude. Instead of using a big ride on mower Australian style every few weeks. You doing the days on end routine. Americans have those stand on mowers for overgrown scrub. They would have mowed "the lot". Sorry 😞 Wife. You really have become Japanese in garden taming 😂👍😺 in this episode.

Don't have the cash for a ride on mower.

Would be great if you could have a small herd of Goats for a day, theyd make short work of it
@RealRuralJapanАй бұрын
Toooo many issues with goats.
@edwinbruckner4752Ай бұрын
lol, In Holland we have a saying that if wanna learn how to swear, you need to herd goats.
@masonsmith858Ай бұрын
@@edwinbruckner4752 people use them in permaculture all the time. Problem is you need someone who wants to keep the buggers fulltime. You temporary fence the area and release them for day or so and the place is defoliated, its super effective.
@RealRuralJapanАй бұрын
@masonsmith858 It's not super effective for your life here if they escape and eat your neighbors bonsai that has been in the family for many decades. All because you don't want to do some work and sorry means nothing when you know this is a possibility. Only a foreigner who has never lived in Japan thinks this would even be an option.

@@RealRuralJapan lol, I wasnt demanding you get a herd bro, chill… Plenty of people make it work, just sharing ideas. You do you, great show! Magoroku Farm's Hironobu Haraguchi rent their goats out for clearing😉

Is there a rehydration drink mix that is sold as affordable powder in Japan? some Pocari Sweat powder hahaha. Got me worrying about you barely being able to walk back up the hill. Also have you ever tried kudzu flowers or root starch? I've seen it growing in some of the videos. Eat the weeds and all that ;)

I have a serious weed envy now. In Hokkaido I have to deal with giant sasa and itadori twice a year.

Pro tip. You need to invite Al Bladez to Japan haha

Stellar effort, but with so much ground to cover, wouldn't a standing scythe be more effective? They are pretty inexpensive (50-100EUR) and cover a lot of ground with a swing.

Haven't see one here i would love to have one.

Cool tip on the difference between the strimmer blade type (like your wife was using) and the cord type. Was wondering why you used that on your field instead of a blade … 👍🏻
@RealRuralJapanАй бұрын
Your field is useless after you use the blade as it takes 6 months to compost down. The field will be ready for plowing in 2 weeks using the string.

Tedious indeed. But that's real life ain't it! Ps Are your cafe hours on Google accurate? Currently traveling through Japan and encountered many innacuracies. Plan to come by next weekend
@RealRuralJapanАй бұрын
Yes, they are but if you don't book you won't get a seat usually.
