They get under the skin that's for sure. Just do your homework before taking the plunge! A hundred bucks on a pre-purchase inspection will pay for itself. Test everything on any car you find. They're not all a nightmare by any means but you need to be ready to source s/h parts sometimes. Good luck and keep us posted!

@@naturalforest2265 hey, apart from obvious visual checks, like whether the button on the dashboard activates the ABC height , and oil under the car, there is not much you can do. Check the steering and suspension reservoirs look ok under the bonnet and maybe get a mechanic to look around the hoses... Also, check for any malfunction codes on a diagnostic in the cars computer if you get the chance... hope that helps

The best way to clean the distronic is an air compressor and some alcohol wipes. Be a little careful with the air line, the plastic can be a little fragile on older cars but just blow out any bits especially round the edges. The keyless go is a credit card size, it does fit into my wallet but I don't trust it so the key comes with me. The doors unlock simply by putting your hand behind the handle, the button is only for locking. You can pick the cards up still from Mercedes but it's hit and miss. The models without ventilated seats still have both buttons, in this case they are dedicated to more/less heat going up the full 5 led's. I'm just having my abc pump replaced, Mercedes are selling re-manufactured ones for £430 with 2 years warranty, apparently their range is growing all the time if you ever need anything. Love the videos, do keep them up :)

Hey, thanks for the tips! I think I am going to have to replace my ABC pump at some point in the not too distant future as it's noisy but all working fine - apparently a rebuild is possible from a company in Madrid I have been told (as I'm in Spain) but they want the car for three days. Maybe it's easier to buy the MB unit and have a warranty! I'm going to have a look at the cruise sensor this week too - I'll keep you posted - thanks again! Mark

Just won an auction for one of these on eBay. Your video was very handy. Sellers says it dosen't have the keyless start, but it has the button for it. He just dosen't have the card, so might look into having a second hand card programmed. Seems to have most of these too! Just standard cruise, but maybe that is a blessing. Thanks

Cool! Yeah the keyless entry and go cards seem to get lost over time. The thing is when you get in the car, you have to have them on you, so may as well just put the key in the ignition lol. As for standard cruise, yeah I would prefer that! The radar system us a tad sensitive on bends and when other vehicles are going through an arc of movement on bends... it can be quite brutal when it decides to de-activate lol. Enjoy the car and hope it gives you trouble free motoring!

did you get a new card for your keyless go? I have a S 500 with KG, but also the card is lost. My Mercedes dealer isn't helpful, there is nobody there with knowledge about the old system with this cards and so nobody can tell me how to get a new card.

The S class has an electrically controlled centre mirror. I've only just discovered my CL has an electric memory on the centre mirror. Adjust the mirror manually and set the seat memory. All three mirrors then move with the memory settings.

Just bought one yesterday, very happy with the purchase, i just have a question. Have you ever had an oil leak around the engine on the right side? I saw another video which shows a bit of moisture on yours, just wondered what's that about, maybe a head hasket or a valve cover gasket?

Hiya, probably a valve cover gasket. Mine has had some kind of oily residue around this area since I bought it I did clean it up a little once but not very well and decided to leave it alone as it wasn't an issue. Keep an eye on the steering rack area and underneath the car by the underside plastic trays for a while until you know the car. Any drips and leaks from the suspension or steering will accumulate in these and then drip. If yours look good, then that's fine. Yes, it was an option on the 500 and 600 but not the AMG 55 - according to the option list for the facelift models from 2003 and on. Not 100% sure for the first models from 2000 but it probably was then too. Mine doesn't have it - just the centre storage compartment has A/C

HI there, yeah I have looked at this and made sure it's all clean but it seems to turn itself off after a certain amount of time! Gonna get it on the start unit and see what the problem is - cheers!

yeah had the same. Just making sure its extra clean, because i have cleaned it always and it havent fixed until i really took time and cleaned those tiny edges, curves, which seems clean but have some stuck dust from time. sensor is wide-sensing one,. good luck anyways

I bought a 2001 CL55 AMG found the function vid useful will need to check my options now. I fixed the xenon level sensors but moving on to distronic issue next. Are there any good breakdowns for accessing, fault-finding etc? Not even looked yet but car was £2250 be nuts to have passed it up. Also, any good breakers for these beasts?

@@MercedesCL500W215VLOGI got a 2003 CL600 biturbo when you press the ABC sport button why don't it light up on the dash, I know the red light comes on the button but why doesn't it show up on the speedometer just like other CL C215 for example, when you press the button to raise the car up and down that's shows up on the dash telling you the car is going up and down, but why don't the abc sport button show up on the dash when you press it telling you that you are in abc sport, iv seen it on some non face lifted models, it shows up when you press it and automatically goes into abc sport mode, may be its just for AMG models but my facelifted Cl600 doesn't even automatically lower itself when you drive it fast and the abc sport button doesn't come on automatically and when you press it, it doesn't even show up on the dash only the red light on the button comes on, remember the 2000 S500 with the non abc airmatic suspension use to lowered themselves automatically and go into sports mode when you started to drive fast, so why some CL C215 cars with abc don't m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqnSh5SZjcmKd6s My Cl600 active sports doesn't show up m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnrVoGd7o6qVmMU
