Not really, that's like saying that if you call a collage artwork ugly you're also always insulting the people who made the original pieces that form it. Ai takes real art and smushes it together, at that point it's no one's art, just an image spat out by a program. (I am not comparing ai to collages in terms of skill and artistic value don't yell at me)

My teacher uses ai to teach us sometimes to use as a reference and for getting an idea or scrap sheet and he obviously says its not ok to claim ai work or in general do anything with it but he says its ok to use as a reference or to get an idea. (If you do use ai i do recommend mentioning in the art piece as it could be considered stealing since ai is trained by real artists)

seeing a few comments abt this but people have seem to forgotten, ai is really bad for reference because it isnt doing *anything* intentionally right, anatomy, lighting, ect. its thoughtless and will stunt growth because it isnt doing anything with intent and wont teach you anything. using it as a reference is hypocritical and to use ai period is wrong and misguided at best and we need to stop having these double standards. there are so many artists making refs for poses, lighting tutorials, explaining how to do these things so you dont have to rely on refs, but no we'd rather use a "tool" that doesnt do any of that that also steals?? AND ITS STILL RUINING THE ENVIROMENT EVEN IF YOU USE IT AS A REF. this gives a reason for ai folk to make more ai imagery, thats why i dont like what happened with a miku ai post, people started making fanart of it. i say fanart because that is how the ai people will view it, THEY ARE GETTING FREE ART OUT OF DOING SOMETHING WRONG. YES!!! Thank you for saying this! In a nutshell AI image generators use algorithms to find patterns in random noise that resemble the data they've been fed (in this case art, photos, etc.) and they do that repeatedly until it spits out something that resembles the original data. It's the computer equivalent of throwing spaghetti at a wall and seeing what sticks. AI may be able to mimic proper perspective, lighting, etc. but it has no inherent understanding of artistic elements or how to use them (it doesn't help that it often gets things wrong, especially hands and text). As a result, I don't see how it can be useful as a teaching tool, nor a source of inspiration. We're inspired by everything around us even if we don't realize it. If an artist needs inspiration, there are so many online resources and references that aren't AI! Better yet, take a break from the screen! Look around and study how light interacts with your environment, how perspective works, etc. There's no need to rely on AI as a crutch when you're capable of not only practicing art techniques yourself, but also doing so better than programs and GPU farms designed for the sole purpose of "making art". I believe art is what truly separates us from other animals. Biologists might say that our larger brains or opposable thumbs are what make us special on this planet, but that doesn't mean much without the context of how to apply those traits. Art is the perfect example of those traits coming together to form something greater than the sum of their parts. Art was the seed that grew into written language. It's a way for people to communicate ideas and concepts that can't easily be put into words. It brings us together and makes us feel any conceivable emotion. It is undeniably human; made by us, for us. Spock once said "Computers make excellent and efficient servants, but I have no wish to serve under them." Be like Spock. Don't let machines and algorithms dictate how or what you create. Create what *you* want. Create because *you* feel like it. Create because that's what makes you unique. :)

ill never forget the first art i commissioned. 2-3 years ago i would frequent this official genshin forum/social media (i was 12 and didnt realize the blatant racism going on in the games and community) and they had this feature called bottlemi where you could send out 3 random bottles per day for a random user to read and you could read 6 bottles per day. one day i received a bottle with someone asking for art ideas. naturally, i suggested paimon and hu tao summoning bill cipher and kind of forgot about it. then randomly one day i got tagged in a post, and they drew what i asked for ! :D that made my whole entire week.

As a writer, Ai is usefull for me. Don't get me wrong, I WRITE EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER and i'm very harsh on anyone who uses AI for: drawings, original writing, voice acting, etc. But I think AI is useful when for example you lack ideas or are inexperienced in a topic. As someone who is getting very interested in the history of the Internet and Websites, I find AI excellent. I just invite people to please not support any Ai animations or drawing, as animators are having really issues to find work because Companies like Disney are relying more on AI and are laying off a lot of young animators.

A few days ago, I went to a school play my brother was doing, and they had projected backgrounds. Some of those backgrounds were clearly ai generated. When I brought it up to people they were like ‘Oh I didn’t even notice’ or ‘Does it really matter?’. What’s worse is that as we were signing him out, the school had ai generated minion Christmas poster, out for everyone to see. I wanted to tear it down so bad. I had a heated discussion with my brother on why it’s bad and he and my mum just kept saying ”It’s here now. People are gonna use it. There’s nothing you can do.” The downside of having a non artist family.

I remember this one AI bro I was arguing with brought up the fact “AI is just weeding out those artists with little to no skills. You can tell who is a small skilled artist too”(clearly an ad hominem of attacking anyone arguing against them) and I’m just- no it’s not. All I ever hear from people in tech is how you should be "more efficient", "having good taste" and different or similar to everything else. Never once is it about self-expression or true self-improvement. Never once does anyone try to make it clear what automation there is-we're always left to our own devices to figure out what is, only most often we are undermined in this endeavour for the "interests" of others, and this is how people label exploitation as "ADAPTING". Just because I can connect with my illustrations doesn't make me invulnerable to a mob's acceptance of superficiality and their otherwise subtle barrage of contradicting paradigms and irrelevant things that blur the line between me and machines. I get treated as if I was stupid when I get told that I'm trying to own information and prevent people from accessing it in the digital age... I am apparently too "stupid" to see how Nightshade and Glaze are abuse. Meanwhile, accelerated algorithm users are choosing to take my illustrations, optimize said algorithms with them and telling me that it has nothing to do with me as if the "A.I."s were optimizing themselves. And then, they try to own the generated material, sometimes by mixing it up with their own marks to try to hide what it really is. If copyright is fine in the way it is, why do prompters still whine about their prompts being "stolen"? I suppose copyright would be favoring simple-minded con artists with a simple-minded theory of mind when living in a world full of them. "This is the internet", and it's leaking out into every aspects of life. And yes, accelerated algorithms require much more energy consumption than your car.

I saw someone in a comment section under a hair waving tutorial say smth like "no need to do allat js use ai it's better" and then they were saying doing actual frame by frame is a waste of time and that just training sora ai is a shortcut even though if we just stopped then their little precious slop wouldn't exist.
