No surprises that novel design from unknown brands gets criticized. If it was Tesla or Apple, people would preorder like crazy despite being horrible. The take-home message is: unfortunately, if your brand is small, don't try reinventing the wheel. GWM copy pasted Porche, and no one seems to complain
