I've saved myself a lot of money and regret by investing in rentals. Good luck with it, and thanks for watching!

Haven’t tried Lensrentals but for me, Borrowlenses is just not worth it for me with the shipping. Every time I’ve rented from them I got the lens around 6:30-7pm at night and that counts as your first “day”. Then you need to return it at UPS by 4 or 5 the last day depending on your location. So for a 3 day rental you would only get the lens for one full day. They charge for shipping but basically charge you for the day it’s being shipped :(. I’m in NYC, it would probably be a lot different if I could just pick it up and drop it off. So, rent for a week or so so that first day loss doesn’t bother you but don’t do a quick rental unless you literally just need it for one day

That’s not their fault when it arrives at you home. When you rent the lens you have to plan accordingly. All of these companies recommend reserving for a couple of days prior to the date you actually need. They rent equipment to make money.

The fact that my rental company is local definitely makes a difference in my case. Still, I feel like the shipping hassle is still worth it on an expensive piece of gear that you're considering buying. Even if you only have 24-36 hours with it, you'll learn a LOT more than watching a bunch of shill KZbinrs gush so they can get more free stuff. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it.

@@wldktz1 This is more informational. Renters should understand that if you need a lens for one or two days, you will be paying for 3-4 with the shipping/pick up and return. And they definitely make money! The rental amount per day is underestimated with the day before and after buffer. Even if you do rent a lens for one shoot, the night you get the lens you would pay for the day it is delivered and the next day when you put it in the mail. So their "daily rental' prices are half of what you actually pay in reality. I want people to understand that because their pricing is misleading.

@@MattSpaugh I like the rental idea too, just saying that even if you pick up and return locally, a "2 day" rental is charged for 3 days. Not a huge fan of getting charged for the time it takes me to return it. Just sharing another side of using the service, many of these companies these days add costs to consumers in some way or another and its useful for some people to know these things ahead of time to figure out if its worth it or not. But it's a pretty niche market so people seem fine to spend it.

My pleasure. Thanks for watching. It's funny, I'm finishing a new video right now that references this one. Just rented a lens for a new "quick rig" I've been playing around with.

It varies depending on the cost of the item you're renting and the duration of the rental but it's usually in the 10-20 USD range for a 1 week rental.
