I also thought that Solar somehow felt guilty, that maybe she didn't do enough to take care of Wheein. In that same WAW interview, Moonbyul said something about how they shouldn't assume to know what's in each other's minds and that they should open up to each other more . When I saw that part again after Wheein's news, I instantly thought that yes, this must be referring to Wheein's situation.

Can't say if it was actually the contract situation but she seemed mentally exhausted plus the song required alot of practice too since its very different to their previous comebacks and she must be iffy about it going well. Also she said earlier she'll be coming back with solo soon(she mentioned indirectly in solarshido too while watching spit it out) so the pressure of that KZbin etc... Also by how much we know Solar is an over thinker so best way for her to get rid of thoughts is working hard keeping herself busy and she like always goes an extra mile with whatever she does and tires herself. She can't do much about the contract issue by what I feel cz girls have said in the WAW interview too that they know each other so well that they don't have to question each other and don't talk alot on something cuz they understand it from the other members perspective (I don't know how to put that in words but I tried).

Honestly if you look at album sales or other indicators, it is obvious that she was the least “seen” among the four, despite the fact that she was (for me) the most naturally talented among them. For me, i think RBW wasted a lot of her potential. Among the four, Wheein was for me i consider the closest to the standard of an idol, but was overshadowed by the uniqueness of her co- members. Hwasa as the no fake curvy dusky girl who makes anything she eats sell out and is unapologetic for it ( you go girl!) then there is solar who is a sexy power belter who dares anything she wants to do (pole dancing, tear clothes like a man in a concert etc) and is a successful youtube vlogger; and then moonbyul with a “handsome” gender bending/ neutral image and sells albums like crazy. As some of her interviews went, it seems like Wheein already knows her identity as an artist and RBW will not be able to give it to her so the best decision is to leave and find it somewhere where she could be herself as an individual artist. The difference i believe is rbw no longer has control over what she produces outside of mamamoo group. For me, I am excited because i am hopeful that Wheein will shine individually this next time she does solo projects. I hope she gets a team that will have their undivided attention towards making her a big star in the industry. I hope she gets to accomplish her dreams this time.

I don't disagree with you at all, I think the overshadow factor is totally a thing. But also Wheein has said time and again she doesn't like to promote alone, and she's avoided shows etc. like the plague, which RBW kind of let her do (vs. forcing like some other companies have done to their idols). That's at least the public-facing story, anyway. The others put themselves out there more, so yeah they'd be seen a lot more. If she gets to do things her way going forward and it works how she wants it, that's gonna be so awesome.

I think part of the reason why she also stayed in the shadows is her panic/illnesses/injuries: she couldn't and didn't want to do the traditional promos for her albums/songs. She's also not as extroverted as the other members, who seem to do well in tv shows (her solo appearance in Secret Unnie comes to mind). She had to overcome those obstacles before feeling brave and confident enough to walk away.

I think she kind of only pulled off Water Color cuz she got along so well with JustJerk, and the choreographer is one of her best friends, so she had people she really trusted with her. She was shaking like mad on Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook, even though they've been on there so many times. She has a lot of good friends in a few different companies, so hopefully wherever she goes is with a bunch of folks she trusts and be comfy with.

Well she's over looked by the international fandom mostly She's considered a Digimon in SK Her ballads are quite famous According to me she isn't the type of artist you can put in one category She's different like a river, infinite. Among the four, Wheein is the most vulnerable, insecure about her overwhelming talent, has the most anxiety issues. Part of her journey is rediscovering herself and the heights she can reach/accomplish on her own. Signing with a young company with a fresh/different perspective is a stepping stone to this goal. Her members although sad understood her needs and fully support her. We all grow in different directions as we age. I watched that interview with Solar without subtitles, and I knew at that point that things had changed. I have barely been listening to them for 6 months, yet I walked around for several days feeling down. There is something special about WheeIn that doesn’t make it past the beauty and outgoing nature of the other three. Perhaps she was tired of being overlooked, overshadowed, and the last to do everything. In a group of 4, there can never be a constant number one person; but she should have been given moments to shine. Consistently. Not just when you want her to sign the contract. You can’t blame her for wanting to do her own thing and wanting to put herself first.

Thank you. It did feel like they were showering her with attention during her comeback because of the contract nearing it's end. They didn't even handle the promotions well. If they did she could have ranked high in the charts for at least one of the music shows. I hope that Wheein gets to do what she loves and shine.

I don't know about that. She's a pretty private person, not one to put herself out there like Solar on YT, Hwasa on the stage, and Moonbyul on TV/radio. I really think it came down to wanting to strike out on her own without a Mamamoo umbrella over her act. And being part of RBW, she couldn't do that. She needed to go to a different label. Part of me, however, hopes the new label respects her talent and gives her autonomy. RBW was great at that since Mamamoo pretty much made the company its bucks. I just don't want to see a label try and control her image, sound, and freedom as a singer/person. Whatever happens, I think many here will continue to support her and her bandmates as they pursue their dreams.

as a wheein stan, i am saddened beyond repair but glad that shes still with mamamoo. But as a human, i understand that wheein has to do what she wants to do. She’s been through so much and overcame alot that its good shes taking a step back, reflect, assess and move forward. For what I know, RBW always gives them the liberty to create their own music and yes we know promotion is not their strong point, but after reading some comments it may seem like RBW was mistreating her or something. I think the easiest way to figure out is in WAW interview, she said something like "I want the keyword all-rounder. Wanting the keyword all-rounder is all about greed", in Watercolor's lyrics itself "Actually I'm so greedy", and in Secret Unnie (all way back in Starry Night era) she confessed to Hyoyeon that she doesn't catch any attention in the first sight, that she doesn't stand out. So it's safe to assume that she wants more people to know her and she acknowledges that it's selfish, but being in RBW doesn't give her that. She deserves it because honestly she's the best dancer and best vocalist technic-wise amongst the girls but the least mentioned by non-moos / casual listener. RBW is good at giving freedom but is shit at giving promotion

My mistake was I held on their promises, when Wheein said that if Hwasa quits she eventually will too. I was expecting her to do the same with the renewal but guess not. RBW doesn't let MMM out there, they go on shows only if they are invited or wanted which is not wrong but it limits how they engage and promote. I am still happy that we could be with Wheein for Three (3) years more, at least by then we are ready.

Honestly, I'm not a mamamoo stan. But sometimes while I watching their video, i thought Wheein was member that the most 'shining' for me. I can't help but notice her presence at every concert. Especially Hip, the first one that make me know Mamamoo. It is highly possible that Solar “could” feel guilty about the situation. We all know (and probably the members also know this deep inside) that this is out of Solar’s control. But it’s a sense of responsibility. Not that she did something wrong, but probably thoughts like “If I knew better, if I understood more, maybe there would be a difference.” or “Did I miss out anything? Any signs?” or “I could have done that, I could have this……….” something like that. Leaders in Kpop groups usually act as the protector of not only the members but also the group in overall. Not because they are told to do so by the company, but because it’s a common sense of responsibility as a leader. You can see that Solar feels the same way as she wrote “ I will protect Mamamoo for a long time no matter what.” That’s why even though Mamamoo will still be 4 members, there will still be differences compared to they are all together now (like Girls Generation). And Solar can’t help but take the responsibility as the group’s protector.

To me, WAWN, and everything associated with it, was bittersweet. It felt like the end of an era, not a celebration of seven years if togetherness. All the members were introspective, and almost melancholic during interviews. Something felt really, really off. I tried to hope against hope, but if I am honest, I knew things weren't going to turn out like Moomoos hoped. I will always support Wheein, and Mamamoo. Wheein had her reasons, and she deserves to be happy. No true fan would begrudge her that.

I had a feeling that she'd be leaving ever since it was announced that the rest of the members had renewed their contracts. When it takes such a long time for one to decide if they want to renew, it's rarely a positive outcome. Plus, as an ex-moomoo, I feel that Wheein is the only member who still retains that spark that made me fall in love with the group. I don't know how to describe it. I guess, it's simply the fact that she was always a singer and an artist first. Like the other three girls constantly loudly fought for all the different things and were bashing against the norms and gender standards, Wheein was solely focused on her art. I respect that about her. So, while I don't think she'll do as well solo as she did with the group, simply because of Wheein's lack of popularity compared to other members, I'm sure she'll still do well and probably will be happier doing indie work or whatever she chooses to do. I'll continue to support her wholeheartedly.

MMM is locked in till Dec. 2023, that's when they are all up for contract negotiation for the group again. The other three resigned as exclusive to RBW for everything, but Wheein's solo stuff is now not through them. And yeah, I've also wondered about them and their relationship. Hwasa worships the ground Wheein walks on, so I'm assuming no matter what, her feel on it is "whatever will make you happiest," even if part of it might hurt in some way. But I feel like Wheein now, although looks happy with her new agency (and I'm sure she's happier now as an artist) is a little different when interact with the members now in the recent vids. Maybe she just grow up to be an adult, she is less little sister-like. I honestly don't know how I really feel about this, I'm happy that she found a new agency that suits her more, but I'm also sad bacause their gap may widen, since they have different schedules, and also, they said that Wheein will participate Mamamoo's promotion until the end of 2023. I miss Mamamoo's little sister (I know Hyejin is the maknae, but you know what I mean if you're a Moomoo), their sister-like interactions. I don't want to be a fan that blindly blame the agency either. Some people really blame RBW, but without RBW, Mamamoo would never be born. I kind of agree, but what do you mean by different interaction? As far as I know, Wheein isn’t the type to make many friends outside of her comfort zone so the members of MMM must be her main friend circle unless she has a lot of other non-idol friends irl. She certainly does have other non-idol friends irl but I don’t feel like she is as close with them as she is to the members of MMM, I feel like she has just grown up. However, their interactions have been more and more mature that I have started to worry about their relationship. You know, I feel like they don’t contact eachother as often anymore so I had the same worry as you. However, I remembered that just because you don’t show affection often doesn’t mean the affection isn’t there so they won’t drift apart just because they haven’t talked to eachother in a long time. I feel like MMM has 50% chance of disbanding on December 2023, I mean they can continue as MMM, it would do no harm to their solo careers. However, what’s most confusing is that I wonder if they can all agree to be a part of MMM but be in a different agency as a soloist. Moonbyul mentioned in many interviews that she wants to transfer to another company, so that’s my biggest concern. However, she says that she wants MMM to last as long as possible because she feels lonely without MMM…? So I’m wondering if she can stay in the group after 2023 but transfer to another company like Wheein. I also wonder if Wheein can prolong her agreement to staying in MMM after 2023 because I wish she does. What are your thoughts on this?

But after that I stated that maybe that's because they grow up, so they become less child-like. And I'm aware that their real interactions aren't all captured on camera, and their recent videos are still few. It's just my uneasiness, I hope, because Mamamoo members that I know always so rowdy. I don't know what happen irl, that's true, but I become worried, because of Wheein leaving the agency and they said that she agree to do promotion with Mamamoo until 2023, with the footage of Solar's in Wheein's solo fan meeting on her birthday that looked more serious and brief (Idk but I feel Solar was feeling down in interview and some of us correlate it with Wheein's leaving), by their recent interactions that a bit different than usual; But I hope it's only my worries and they are happy together irl. Maybe if they make collaborations (not only Solar-Moonbyul because we all know they're besties forever, and since Hwasa doesn't have any channel even though I know she's Wheein's bff, I still hope they will make it) on their channels my worries will go away, heheh. I also realized she has a group of friends outside of MMM that she hangs out w regularly (I went to her IG and checked her past posts and saw her friends and clicked into her friends IG and a lot of them are filled with posts of Wheein and her group of friends). I realized those are also the people she hangs out with in her vlogs. I’m happy she found a new friendship of 4 but it makes me kind of sad, it’s like she’s fallen apart with the members of MAMAMOO. She’s kind of moved on. For Hwasa’s birthday yesterday, both Solar and Moonbyul posted something for her but Wheein didn’t… I’m pretty sure they’re not as close as they used to be now. I mean I can’t judge merely by some Instagram posts but it’s really uncanny to me. Hwasa did say she’d hang out with her members on her birthday in her interview last time but I’m not even sure if Wheein is included in the meet-up because these days it’s Yongsun, Moonbyul, and Hwasa who are still close with eachother and hang out.

I'm also happy for her to have friends she enjoys to be with, but also sad because it seems that she is more distant to the rest of Mamamoo members 😟 I didn't know about how only Solar and Moonbyul posted about Hwasa's birthday yesterday until you mentioned it. I hope it's just because we couldn't see what happened behind socmed, but it's just different. Wheein's interactions, Solar's birthday video notes for Wheein in her birthday, Solar and Moonbyul always share their support to each other with their new albums on their channel but not with Wheein (I mean, they have different agencies now, but aren't Mamamoo members that I know don't really care about what the strict rule say if they want something that they think it's right to do). About the chair Wheein gave to Moonbyul and the invitation to be the host at her fan meeting eased my worry a little bit because those are the proof that Wheein and Moonbyul are still close, but Moonbyul is Moonbyul, she can be close with literally everyone. Hwasa will resign 100% IMO since she doesn't need to move to a new company to get recognized, her name is already an entire label now. Furthermore, her contract ends on June, right before MMM's anniversary. She was so laid back in the 8th anniversary filming so that's settled (If she wouldn't renew her contract, she would've treated the 8th year like MMM's last anniversary but it didn't seem like so). Solar/Moonbyul staying in RBW depends on each-other, if one of them leaves the other will also leave and Solar has a pretty big chance of staying there, she doesn't really care and she loves Hwasa very much so I guess that's settled for both MoonSun. Hi. If you've watched Wheein's most recent interviews, she's definitely happy. We speculate that she made the move to leave the agency because she has more to offer than what was demonstrated and she wants to branch out artistically. She is definitely not making this move to remain low key. She herself admitted that she wants to be recognized by more people as an all-rounder which she knows is one of her key strengths as an artist. Anyway she didn't leave Mamamoo.
