Thank you so much Crysta . My suggestion is create a form in spanish and english clear with the due diligence and make them sign it , so in case of an audit you have the proof that they agreed with the questions and responses they provided. We have to do a due diligence but we are not auditors so there is no way to at some point proof the client is providing accurate responses. If I am wrong let me know , so I will learn.

Thank you for this! Such good information on due diligence, this is my first season as a paid preparer on my own business and this is super helpful! Cyrsta I have a question for you if you can help me with this one… So I have a client who was an independent contractor for a solar sales company and he got a 1099-NEC. He also hired someone to help him with an installation and collected a W-9 from the guy and reported it to to IRS along with issuing a 1099-NEC for that individual… My question is this.. can the solar sales guy (independent contractor)write off the wages he paid to the other independent contractor that he hired for the one job?? And where would he write that off? I am assuming somewhere on Schedule C? Thank you for all you do for us tax professionals!! 😊
