40 this year as well. I work out everyday and I 100% agree with the scaling down on exercise. People in the fitness "community" are always about pushing, increasing weight, etc etc. Never, EVER do you hear anyone talking about exercising for maintenance, it's always about improvement. I'm super cool with a 30 minute routine once/day that doesn't leave me sore or injured. Diet is 80% of it, and being jacked at 40+ is a recipe for heart failure anyway.

Yes I totally agree! I am at the point where it’s absolutely more about how I feel rather than what I look like…

I am a 50 year old guy now, but I remember my 40's with fondness: Because my 20's were so lonely as a young man, I ended up compensating by having a renaissance period of sexual exploration with sex workers who were in their 20's. Now all of that is too much for me, and I prefer quiet evenings at home. Even the thought of never finding love again does not scare me. I find contentment alone, paying attention to the changing of the seasons. The gradual loss of sexual/romantic activity, and the loss of intensity of youth, does not bother me at all. The mistake I made in life was thinking that relationships were a magical fairy land that would solve all of life's problems. The truth is, it does not matter if you are in a happy marriage, or you are single in middle age. People face the same challenges in their 40's and 50's.

@@greeneking77 No no, that would be a bit too seedy for me. This was the SF bay area. Online, independent luxury sex workers. Seeing them in their hotel rooms mostly. I had a regular and had a 6 year "relationship" with her that was very special. Also saw international touring women from Ukraine, South America, Korea and other places. It was a lot of fun.

I was into all that bodybuilding when I was a young man and the only real benefit I could tell was it attracted women. Haven't done any hard exercise in 30 years but I do stay busy working on projects of mine. Sometimes it's building a building or just building a guitar. I'm 70 today and doing fine. Just stay moving is all you have to do. I read where just standing up on your feet is doing the body good.
@The_regular_homeАй бұрын
I agree, if you just keep moving, your body won’t have a chance to get slow and stiff.

The things I quite in my 40s was unintentional. I can no longer sleep 8 hours straight, i do them in intervals 4hours + 4hours. Drinking? I was never cool enough to have friends to drink with. so I don't drink. No smoking - no weed. Again never cool enough to even bother. No tattoos - never was cool enough to get one. Since Carona, haven't been going to the gym often. I need to cause now I've gotten fatter. And it seems i would need to go daily just to stay stay same weight.

Like most of my friends I wanted a wife and family but never likes online dating so I just gave up . I'll probably be alone for the rest of my life but dating is broken. I'm tall , fit, attractive, have a good family, nice trustworthy friends haven't met a woman I wanted to ask out since I was 23.

41 here. I train twice as much as I did when I was in my 20s. Weights are lower, but more reps (20-30), and more workouts during the week. It helps a lot with joint pains and aches. Select exercises that dont put strain on you that much (swapping free weights to machines, belt squatting instead of regulars, to save lower back ect.). Also learn a proper technique. Even if its already good (and its almost never the case) you can always make it better, and better for you and your pains/injuries. Keep doing cardio for heart health and nice blood flow, and lift weights to stay mobile and sane 😁 TLDR: You can still go ham in the gym, you just need to adapt 😁 Dunno why I ended up here but noticed workout section and just could not hold my damn mouth :) All the best lady content creator :)

I saw the thumbnail and came here to leave a sneaky comment about why this teenager is talking about quitting smth after 40. Then I started watching the video and was like ok she's like 25, but 40, you must be kidding me. Probably because you have no eye bags, maybe the makeup, I dunno. Me (43) I don't recall quitting anything after 40. If anything I started jogging which helped a lot dealing with stress. Plus I started figuring out what I am and why I came here, since I'm not religious I didn't see that coming.
