Sadly someone worked very hard to give that table a cool mid-century modern vibe by painting it. It looks wonderful back to its pre-painted self. While there are plenty of pieces of furniture that painting can save, it takes a discriminating eye to know which is which, it seems.

no actually I don't agree. Not only do I think everyone should do with their own stuff as they please, especially in this case it was a great way of individualising the piece. It still kept the original wood look but added a personal touch. And it seems to be solid wood, so you can always remove the paint again, just like you did. I'm not gonna design my home in a way that makes other people happy. Well except my boyfriend because it's also his home
