My condolences to the motorweek family for your loss. I’ve watched your show since I was a little boy. Mr Goss taught me a lot of things about cars that built my basic knowledge and understanding of cars.

Missing him greatly. RIP legend. Condolences to the MW family. However, I wish that you guys could just replay his segments from years past and keep his memory with us, as he has done so much for the viewers and the show. Regardless, thank you MotorWeek for bringing this great soul to our screens for so many years and thank you Pat for being in my life. All the blessings. MM

I agree. He left a wealth of automotive knowledge that some younger viewers might have never seen. I too wish they would do a "classics" segment, at least every once in awhile, to keep his memory and priceless advice alive.

I have to say, i started watching your program when i was 10, on PBS, before the days of cable or even ON TV, for those of you that remember. I learned a lot about cars from Mr. Goss, one of the main things that I picked up from him, don't be scared of a machine others built. Obviously i didn't learn that at 10yo, but over the next few years, this program and more specifically Pat showed me it was possible to figure out and simple than just operating a mechanism that just seemed too complicated to understand. Aside from todays vehicles, think more along the lines of a carburator and filiment bulbs, but i would have to say that he was one of my first influences into mechanics. Anyway, just thought I'd share that with strangers, maybe his family will randomly read it to make them feel just a smidge better.... Rest in Peace Pat. Thanks for your help over the years! D.

Condolences to Pat’s family and friends. I’ve enjoyed Pat’s segments on Motorweek for over 30 years, literally my entire life. His segments were short, but directly to the point. I’ve learned a wealth of great “top tips”, and his advise always served as an excellent primer that sparked further research on the topic being presented. I lost my Dad last year, his loyal viewership of Motorweek throughout my life saw me grow up watching Pat every week. Even though my Dad was a GM engineer, we both learned a lot of good advise from Pat over the years. After my Dad passed, the familiarity of Motorweek, especially Goss’ garage, always brought smile to face as it immediately took me back to my childhood of watching the show with Dad on Saturday afternoons. Thank you Pat, you’ve made a positive impact on my life and you’ll be sorely missed. Condolence’s to the Motorweek Family.

Pat's knowledge, visual learning references and encouraging, up-beat tone have been an automotive staple in my life for 25 years. Thank you John and MPT for giving Pat the opportunity to become a veteran member of television's original automotive magazine

Very sad news. I really learned a lot from him and considered him an old friend who shared my affinity for DYI car repairs. He will be greatly missed. I hope MW decides to do a Goss' Garage "classics" segment, at least every once in awhile, to keep his legacy and priceless advice alive. He left us a wealth of knowledge that some younger viewers might have never seen. Please replay some of his "greatest hits" from time to time.

I’m not super familiar with Pat Goss outside of the few clips I’ve seen on KZbin (since my bastard PBS station doesn’t air MotorWeek on ANY of its FOUR CHANNELS) so I don’t know Pat’s legacy as well as other fans. I still know he was important to a lot of viewers with the few videos I’ve seen and it’s still incredibly tragic he passed away. He’s definitely going to be missed. I’m sad I didn’t even know until two weeks later.

Sorry Pat, I know you're not there anymore, but I've done those fiberglass mesh backed hole repairs and they never ever work for any length of real time. The only solution is to cut out the rot and weld in new steel.

Once a car has some serious rust on it, it is only a matter of time before something else really big starts to fail, and then a little while after that something else starts to fail, and then suddenly within a matter of 6 to 12 months it cost less per month to simply buy a NEW car than to spend money on repairs to keep the old car going. So if the old car is rusting, just patch it with some bondo knowing that it's only got 2 more years of life before it's toast. Save up for the new car soon.
