oh hey that's my puzzle! thank you very much for the feature, i'm still a very novice setter so it was a wonderful surprise to see this pop up, considering it's my first fog puzzle! sorry about some of the funky or missing rule wording, i don't totally know how i overlooked the normal sudoku rules in the puzzle link because it's on my LMD post :P as some other comments have mentioned, the orthogonal only hint does clue you in to the polarity of the visible line cells right off the bat, but your logic is another great route that i didn't even think of when i was setting.

there is an observation which might have helped, had the line been more complicated, but it was entirely optional. but basically the high/low pattern has to be checkerboard due to the orthogonal-connections-only nature of the line, so you can figure out high/low of remote fragments of the line before you've found all the connections.

The right amount of challenging for a Monday morning! Finished in 24:36. I was a tad slow at the beginning of the solve, not fully considering the implications of the whisper constraint of the region sum line.

For a orthogonally branching line there is a nice rule of 'bishop' squares. Once any cell is known, all others on the line sharing diagonals of same 'color will be of the same values (high-low)

Knowing that the single line couldn't move diagonally let me color a lot of the central box before entering a digit. I did have to assume that the shape poking out of the fog was a V, since the font I saw was thicker than in the video. It was basically a truncated triangle rather than an actual V shape. Nice solve after that. My time was 7:49, solver number 1899.

Solved in 26:22 - interesting twist on standard German whisper lines leading to a crafty break-in.

@sudokusleuth Because we are told that there is only 1 German whisper line as soon as we know high or low for one cell on the line we know all of them even if we can't see parts of the path. It's forced. You can start coloring immediately and then change the colors according to your preference after you determine high or low for any cell on the line
