"I didn't meet anyone" correctly means you were alone! "Anyone" is sometimes given the wrong status as "someone who is important" this is incorrect and inappropriate.

Simple definition: everyone refers to persons around you. Someone refers to one individual. Anyone refers to one individual but within a group. With the term "anyone" it's referring to the group but with the term someone it's just shouting one individual for example: someone took my cat (or) did anyone took my 🐈 if your confused with anyone just remember it's referring to a group.

Hey guys, I have a problem with reduction of adjective clauses. I don't know how to reduce a clause which is simple past. For example: The guy who killed Mary is here. Is it correct to say: The guy killed Mary is here??? or The guy having killed Mary is here?
@LoveEnglishwithLeilaSabrah
@LoveEnglishwithLeilaSabrah 6 жыл бұрын
Oh wow this is a complicated question about the difference between the present participle or the gerund and relative clauses. In this case the correct is ‘the guy who killed Mary is here’ having suggests it is the subject of the sentence- when we use the present participle (the ing form of the verb) we make the verb the subject of the sentence. But in this case you don’t need that you need the relative pronoun who as you are defining who the person is - he is the killer of Mary. Hope this helps you - I did a video on relative clauses - you can find it in our grammar playlist 😊
