Omg do one meet I forgot my grips at home and then I didn’t know so then when we got to bars looked for my grips and they were not truer so I started crying oh yeah and this is at states and so I had to use my teammates grips that were a size 3 and I’m a size 1 so I had to compete bars with someone else’s grip two sizes too big and I thought I had an ok routine and then I got a 9.600 and then I just started crying because I was in shock of how good of a score I got

OK - no "worst bars routine" story, because I wasn't a gymnast. I do have my "most unnerving figure skating" story... skating in Switzerland, my teacher there talked me into doing the exhibition, it had some famous skating folks in it (the Protopopovs, Russian pair who invented the death spiral). This rink held probably about 1000 people, don't know for sure, never counted seats. So I'm announced, I skate out and take my spot. Music starts, off I went! As I was skating, not really thinking (thank you muscle memory), I hear "CLICK! POP!" Silence... the music shut off. No idea what happened, no one was near the cassette (yes, CASSETTE, this was the 1980s), but that music was OFF. So... I just kept skating, thinking "OK, let's just show off and have some fun with this" and about 30 seconds (LONGEST 30 seconds of my LIFE) the music came back on! And the best part? I didn't miss a beat! The music started right where it needed to be! I finished my program and the crowd went wild.

i don’t have a crazy story on bars but i do on beam... i was really good at back wall red in level 5 but this was my first time competing one. i warmed up and they weren’t bad but weren’t my best. i was last up so i was a little cold but not bad. i got up and in forgot to arch in my back walkover because i was so nervous. i have a video and my mom in the back gives this huge gasp and it is hilarious. but i got back up and did the skill again perfectly. i love watching that video of me just falling flat to my back off the side of the beam. i was super young so it was a long drop

Little story time I was at a meet and My teammate forgot her grips so they made me give my grips to her. She was little and my grips were way to big but they still made her warm up and compete in them. I only got one turn in warm up and then it came my turn to compete and there was no water so I had to wait till they refilled the water and then as I was competing, I went to jump to the high bar and I got flat doweled (it’s what I call when you don’t get the dowel on the grip over the bar but instead you get on it) it prevented me from having a full swing (I stayed on the bar when that happened by the grace of god) so I was at a complete stop and so I tried to get another swing which I did but it was small and made the kip (it was a rough kip) and yeah I got a 7. Something I believe and if my score was higher I would have qualified for state ( I did the next meet. Also this was level 4 JO)

So story time! One meet, my team started warmup, and we were struggling. I hadn’t vaulted that badly in a very long time. Our coach was like, “What are you doing??” My friend told us, but not the coach, “When I hurdled, my foot hit the floor. We were using a mini tramp and only doing a handstand flatback from the horse onto a tall mat by the way. So one of my other coaches was like, “Something’s wrong” She made the people at the meet flip over the tramp so she could look. And if I remember correctly, like half the springs were completely missing. The people at the meet took them out because they were poking the gymnasts’ feet. My coach made them get a new board for us.

I completely slipped off the bar while doing a clear hip and fell on my coach. I still feel bad. My worst bar story tho was when I missed my one foot on the bar while doing a squat on and I fell forward and your natural instinct is to put your arms out so I put my left arm out and it didn’t end well. I completely freaked out and started crying because like why wouldn’t you. I went to the ER the next day after I couldn’t move my arm and they said it was too swollen to see anything so then I had to wait for the swelling to go down. Turns out I had fractured my elbow. It wasn’t a fun day.

I pinged off and did a fly away (non intentionally) to my back trying to jump to the high bar (my worst fear on bars). At another competition, while going to the washroom I got my grips stuck in my leo and because I was first on bars, my coach had to tell me to hurry up! 😂 I remember watching you compete at Elite Canada so long ago and my gym club came to your gym to watch you all train 🙂 when I was younger I wanted to be like you as a gymnast!

You’d most likely be a level 10. Level 10 requirements are One flight skill that is a minimum of “C” value (excluding the dismount) (Geinger -D) A second different flight skill that is a mimimum of “B” value (excluding the dismount) (Toe Hecht - B) One skill with a longitudinal-axis turn that is a minimum of “C” value (excluding the mount and dismount) (Forwards giant 1/2 - C) A minimum of “C” valued salto dismount (Double layout - not certain) Aswell as 3 “A” rated skills, 3 “B” rated skills, and 2 “C” rated skills. With vault aswell... Tsuk tuck (9.4 SV) Yurchenko layout (9.7 SV) So you are most likely the equivalent of a level 10 gymnast on bars and vault. If I’m wrong on any information, please correct me and I will change it to avoid spreading misinformation.

My craziest story not that crazy but once when I was warming up vault my toe somehow curled under my foot as I was running and I tripped and face planted into the spring board. My leg hurt soooo bad when I competed my 2 vaults, I was lucky it was my 4th rotation and was done after that. The meet was 2 hours from my town so we stopped at a gas station on the way home and got ice so I could ice my leg in the car 😂 I ended up scoring an 8.5 I think
