Someone tried to SWAT me?! I'm really confused and this most likely was a coincidence? But I was suspecting something when the police showed up to my old address. On Saturday night, the cops were called to my old address. I was told about this the next day in the morning. And the cops were vague about the situation. They weren't acting as if some major threat was called so perhaps the swatter was tippy toeing and testing out the phony 911 call? OR this was a coincidence? I kinda think this was a coincidence but also kinda think it was intentional.
A similar situation happened before. The cops randomly showed up at the front door, and were asking if everything was ok and were responding to a call. But they never said what it was about. 2 years later and it happens again but it brings paranoia. On Xbox, I get hate messages sometimes. And among those hate messages and DDoS threats, it's usually a threat where a SWAT team is called. I don't usually pay attention to threats like that and look at it as empty threats, considering I'm more private and I have a VPN. And I only received around swatting threats over Xbox in the past 1-2 years so I rarely get threatened by some hater.
But after seeing the cops at my old address and realizing this happened before and remembering those Xbox swatting threats. It really makes me wonder. I did call the police's non emergency line and asked where the call came from and what the call was about. I don't think the call was serious since the police didn't bust down any doors. But long story short, the cops said they'll talk to the responding officers and see what they can find out and that they'll call me back. And... they NEVER called me back. I kinda figured they wouldn't. After you get swatted, the cops don't really care who placed the call. They usually run their own investigation and are embarrassed that they responded to a call that was placed across state lines.

Feel bad for anyone that gets swatted especially if they're not doing anything wrong and just gaming. I'm speaking for us gamers mostly content creators they get swatted for no reasoning and police force waste money on a civilian rather than finding the person that sent the attack in the first place... This should be a crime and if so they suck at finding the REAL Mole of the suspect

It is a crime actually, but those who call in these things use a VPN or something which makes it harder to track who made the call. There have been cases of people who did call the SWAT teams getting arrested though because they brag about it online

Content creator's get swatted because people hate the idea of people getting money just by playing video games, there are more reasons but it varies. Being careless with your adress needless to say will get you swatted or doxxed.

I know it might sound silly, but it would be illegal for the cops to simply ignore the call. Once the call is reported they have to respond to it, even if it's just to show up and check if everyone's okay. The swatter is a pathetic PoS - if it was directed at you, could've been an accidental address, but I'd be after them to release the audio of the call to figure out what was said in the call.
