Can't tell you how much I enjoyed your video! If we don't value our own art, who will? If the time isn't now to know our own worth, then when is? If a customer can't understand your purpose, they will never understand your why--why you do what you do...why you create your art...why you took a leap of faith and quit your 9 to 5 job. They will never understand the courage and guts it took for you to start your small business and basically support yourself. But that's o.k...their loss. You continue to be YOU...continue to chase your dreams...continue to make your art! You are valued, you are appreciated, you are loved.

Wow! That's a harsh comment. I didn't see that comment, I don't think, but I saw one where someone was saying that the fairy boy keychain is $60, or something like that. Which, in Canadian Dollars, it was that much. So, for one, you're never going to please everyone because all around the world everyone's prices are different depending on what country you live in. And, secondly, I don't think it's really ever fair to judge what someone charges. If it's too expensive for you then you don't have to buy it. Like you said, it's a luxury. This is the price you want to charge, if you don't want it, move on and someone else will buy it. I, personally, can't always afford to buy, but when I can, I love to order from your shop. There's always going to be haters, but I wouldn't let it get you down. There's tons of us who are rooting for you and hope you succeed. It must be really hard to profit when your craft takes a long time to create. I am starting a sticker business, and that's taking a long time as well. Me, personally, I would love to get into creating more passive income by selling digital products. For example, I want to sell stationery that people can print. I think it could be profitable because I could use the same designs to create physical products as well, but also have a cheaper digital option for those who can't afford to buy the physical products. Just thinking aloud. Anyway, I hope that it all works out for you. Always here to lend support when I can. Good luck! :)

Hahaha I know I blocked them 🤣🤣 the Canadian dollar comment I do remember that actually as someone asked why things were $60 so that confused the heck outta me, I totally got that and wasn’t phased by that at all hahah! I’m not really in the position myself right now to be buying people’s art as cost of living and getting married in 3 months but, boooooyyyy do I want to keep on creating!! I just hope I can help and inspire others to keep on keeping on too when these things arise!! 🥹🥹 sounds amazing to me… I need to figure out my EXACT game plan but I have a good idea where I want to end up now 🥹🥰🥰🌷

@@sugarshrimp Good thing you blocked them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. I completely understand 100%. Things are expensive right now! Congrats and ood luck on the wedding! I'm sure it's going to be beautiful. ❤ And no worries! Was just trying to help give you ideas 😅

@@sugarshrimpI was the one who wrote that comment……. I totally did not mean it in a negative way at all! I believe that you are charging the right price for you work, it just happens to be more expensive in different currencies. I know you probably won’t get this because you said you blocked me but, if you do, I’m not trying to be a hater at all! I have been a huge fan of yours for many years now and always watch you videos. I was just asking why they were $60, but I later realized that it was just the currency difference. As I said in my response comment, i am so happy you have a variety of different pieces, so that all kinds of people and different financial situations are able to support you! I’m sorry is it came off as hate!! Again, I did not mean any hate whatsoever, and am thankful you made this video to help me and others understand pricing for a small business. This truly gave me some perspective and am thankful for you! I hope you are doing well with the hate and I wish you good luck as an artist!!💗💗

You’re spot on, your art is not for everyone, it truly is a luxury ❤ I’ve had to tell myself this sometimes, and just move on and focus on those that appreciate my work. Your hands made the work, and those hands deserve to be paid well. You cannot buy it in the store. You might consider getting back into casting to help you move faster. I’ve started having a few molds going at once, so one run in the pressure pot gives me a few pieces to work with. The pressure pot helps greatly with quality of the cast, which is a time saver in the end.

There’s so much I want to unpack from your comment!! Getting my systems sorted is my number 1 goal, molds, coloured clay, I want to be experimenting with the lot! And ofcourse I’ll film that process!! A pressure pot is one of the very next things on my list when I get my channel monetised, what one do you use?? 🙂🙂🙂 I’ve seen a few reviews but not familiar with any personally so I’d love to know 🥹🥰✨

@@sugarshrimp I use the large California tools one, but I first started with a paint pot converted to pressure pot, which helped save money initially. It’s an investment for sure. I did have a local artist help me get set up, I met him at an artist alley. There are a few things that are costly up front but save in the end, like platinum cute silicone can give you 20-30 casts before breaking down.

Oh definitely! I’ve never heard of that brand. After £100s of experimenting with resins I finally found one I like which is like WATER so I no longer have any bubbles at all apart from a few micro at the surface but to get rid of them eventually will be fabulous. Do you have a specific brand of silicone you prefer? I do max 10 pulls from each mold, so never run into an issue yet but, future proofing I’ll definitely need to upgrade but alll in good time! For now it’s minimum costs and build up… can’t wait 🥹🥹🥹

@@sugarshrimp not sure if you can source smooth on products in UK, but dragon skin medium is my go to, and Smooth cast 305 is my resin. Would you mind sharing your fave resin and cure time? Always game to try a new one if I can get it here in the states

You're absolutely right here. I run small hand made business too and have had comments like this. People have even messaged me saying they will buy something if I will take (much lower price). It's nuts and so rude. Thanks for this video and your positive attitude :D

Chelsey, I’m one who thinks you undercharge for your adorable original clay art! And you can definitely succeed with your dedication and Iove for your art, which shows in every piece you create❤ I’m in America so I pay higher shipping but love supporting you! Loved your hot dog party and bought several pieces. Love the blind bags, so fun. I believe your custom animal keychains sold quickly, as I was considering have you do my son’s dog. So please be encouraged and keep at it! We all love you and support you ❤

Ohh and I do so appreciate your support & input I really do!! I’m definitely not discouraged don’t worry, if anything I feel fueled by it 🤣 I’ve got a lot to achieve this year that nobody is coming to knock me down haha, i just thought it was an interesting topic to bring up on a vlog as I’m sure others have thoughts! But without people like you supporting me I wouldn’t be able to even consider my artistic path so thank you again 🥹🥰 (p.s. postage costs pssss me off more than I care to admit but that’s a topic for another day hahaha!!)

Great video ❤ i dont think some people take into consideration the time it takes to create the ideas aswell as actually making and creating the product. Handmade creations from individual people are usually one offs or small batches which make them much more sort after. I love your work your a brilliant artist and creator. You cant please everyone. Always know your worth ❤xx

Oh definitely!!! I agree there 100% it’s so easy to see a highlight reel and not realise how long things actually take! But as a creator/artist I do believe it’s my responsibility to come up with systems to make my work faster in order to keep that price the best I can get it!! I am so glad people like you are out there for people like me!! Thank you so muchhhhh for your support!!! 🥹🥹✨🌷
