Windows 7 also had telemetry and was considered as bloated, especially by the end of it's support. Bro Mutahar got so much wrong here its INSANE 6:01 Mutahar I love your channel and watch your videos frequently but this is not the "worst tech advise on KZbin" TechYesCity did a whole video about ghost spectre and did a deep system analysis and found nothing harmful, he even goes to say at the end of the video its comparative of his own win 10 custom ISO he uses on his own and client machines. I have personally used it for a whole year for just gaming on my older PC and worked great w/ no issues. 15:19 there already is a light version of Windows 10 and 11 they are called LTSC edition... Its is literally on their website and there is even a FREE trial to use it. But I do agree they need to amp up their game and have a dedicated desktop gaming OS like SteamOS. 19:54 Yes this is really bad to download a custom ISO of windows, but you fail to mention that Ghost Spectre and other custom OS have tools to let you verify the hash files, Atlas and Revi OS both instruct you to download the ISO directly from Microsoft. 21:15 Yes most people who use these custom OS are on low end systems, nobody is saying to use these to login to your bank account, its just for gaming and Atlas's code is open source, you can read what each line of code does for your PC. It is very similar to the code/tools you show at the end of the video 26:50 Not only FPS but system stability stopping those annoying windows updates, oh and bypass the windows 11 minimum system requirements for older hardware. You talk a lot about Atlas in this video but did not mention at all Revision OS which has the same goal as Atlas but without breaking anything , the end result is super smooth OS that can be used as a daily driver for both gaming and productivity. and lastly, 19:06 bruh wtf happened here lol (edit this out with YT studio bro) All in all is this really worse the new windows spying tools they add in with every update? I rather put my trust in open source code to disable telemetry, copilot, bloatware, etc. TLDR: if you don't want to move to Linux just use Windows LTSC edition cuz it has no bloatware and better performance

@@jonaut5705 Aside from games that use pretty invasive anti cheats, most should work fine out of the box on Steam using Proton. Proton is Steam's personalized version of Wine, which is a compatibility layer that translates Windows API calls into Linux API calls. Most games I tried actually run quite well under Proton, even though they are games made for Windows. You can also just use Wine directly if you want (or need to run something without using Steam), it is just more annoying to setup properly and will might require some fine tuning depending on what you are running while Proton pretty much just needs you to enable it and it will mostly just work out of the box. Again, aside from games that use invasive anti cheats (which refuse to adapt to and/or accept Linux), running games on Linux is really not as hard or annoying as most people assume it is. Ghost spectre is frequently audited, I have been using it for 2 years as a second install for minor things that don't work on my Linux side (Adobe) (Maya). I looked and there is no suspicious traffic there are no weird changes to the registry side of things. It's quite clean but it's like muta said, always trust what you're downloading don't take my word for it. I will however not be using ISOs down the like I was a little dumber a couple years ago to have done that. Next time I'll probably use a script like Atlas or something well known open source and audited on a a genuine windows iso just to avoid anything that could very well be hiding deep in there.

THANK YOU. It felt like Muta completely missed the bar with nuance. Like not all custom OS builds are equal. It really boils down to due your due diligence. I chose spectre for the same reason, not for my main build but its still amazing. "a little extra frames" seems to be a bit unfair toward the people who create and work on atlas or revisionOS. Both are open source on github and anyone can look at the changes they make. Optimizing does make a huge difference, especially in the low fps. And thats not even speaking about disabling anything spyware / telemetry related yet. I make my own ISOs using NTLite, i dont know why optimizing or just editing windows isos is so frowned upon but installing X version of linux (distribution) is okay. You can make whatever you want out of windows with enough research, if you dont want to rely on 3rd party providers then just do it / learn it yourself. There is ALOT of performance to be gained over just a stock windows and the experience will be generally better because you can just remove the things that annoy you. Ads in the search bar? Especially often i saw builds by "OVGorskiy" who everybody called "OVGovnovskiy", because "Govno" means "Shit" in russian and his builds were exactly that. @notanetcher Did you even try to figure out what was wrong? or did you just give up? The wifi issue is not a problem with linux, it is up to the manufacturer to make a driver for it go complain to them.

@notanetcher Realtek support is spotty, you can use a USB wifi adapter. I remember having intel wifi issues on windows, so again not an issue with linux just the chip makers drivers. Picking a distro is not to hard, just try some that interest you and pick the one you like most. Pretty easy, you don't need to try every distro ever just a few that interest you. It is just wrong to say that linux sucks, it runs 90% of the internet it obviously does something right.

@notanetcher user error, not Linux's fault.

it's actually pretty simple to install a light version of windows using the original ISO from Microsoft, via the automated install features, you can just exclude everything to be installed but the bare bones. and poof, there you go. so "technically" Microsoft does offer this indirectly be allowing installs to be manipulated before they are installed in the first place.

Its simple if you know what you're doing. Most people who need to watch videos or tutorials likely won't have the knowledge to understand how to create custom Windows install images.
