That poor lady who wanted to learn piano. I returned to piano music after a break of 40 years. My teacher is amazing. He takes on adult beginners. I went back as a Grade 5 and I'm now practicing for my Grade 7. My teacher has given me so much confidence and really has inspired me to come out of my "safe zone". I also teach myself now and much prefer adult beginners. The adult beginners really want to learn and many have time on their hands as children have grown up and left home or they are retired. Of course, with Covid-19 just now lessons in person are suspended but we're continuing lessons via Skype. Ah! The wonders of technology which work really well. We're on lockdown in the UK so I got my 22 string harp out and have started learning that again. Turning the negative into the positive. Stay well everyone.

Hi Christy Lyn, I've been watching your videos for a short while and just love the way you teach and your enthusiasm for helping others to learn this beautiful instrument. You are the greatest and please always keep doing what you do here. It means the world to me and lots of others. Much love from Sheila H in Minnesota.

I re-watched this exciting video. Can't thank Christy-Lyn enoug for doing it. Somerset is still exciting and one thing to update you all on: now you don't have to struggle with your schedule and worry about missing a workshop you really want to take because there's another exciting one at the same. All workhops are now recorded for later replay and your subscription means you can take all those workshops you couldn't attend 'live'--the All-Access ticket gives you until Oct. 31! The online component, introduced during the pandemic, is a key new feature of the festival.

Thank you very much. About 3 maybe 4 years ago I witnessed one of the most beautiful arrangements by a local composer in Redlands California at the REDLANDS BOWL and of the other 70 plus instruments on the stage the harp stood out the most. Brought tears to my eyes for my ears to hear so many instruments yet the harp topped the sound of the composition with a heavenly pluck and strum here and there. And I just wanna say you are not weird ... You are awesome .

There's nothing quite like the experience of "finding your tribe". Almost every field of human endeavor has an analogous event whether it's called a "seminar", a "festival" or something else entirely, it can be quite literally life changing to attend. I've never unsubscribed, though rarely watch your videos since your focus turned mainly to the harp, but I'm glad I watched this one. You're always "lit up" with enthusiasm, being just that sort of person, but rarely quite this brightly. :)

Thank you for this. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I have a granddaughter taking harp lessons, and I'm going to send her your email address. You mention "harpists" several times, but not "harpers." I'm a folk musician but know no classical music. The difference between a harper and a harpist is the difference between a fiddler and a violinist. You did show bits of musicians playing folk music--mostly Celtic--which is what a harper plays. I'm tempted to grab my granddaughter's harp to try my hand at some Scots, Irish, and Welsh folk tunes. In the Bible, St. John on Patmos relishes the sound of the heavenly "harpers harping on their harps." Isn't that a lovely phrase? 😊

That was a heartwarming video! That festival looks amazing, it's a motivation to go there someday if finances allow it. I do hope to see more videos of the ambiance of the place like you've shown here! Harp-makers, lessons... Which one did you end up choosing and why? I also look forward to other videos about other harp festivals if you're able to go there! The bigger ones I know about in Europe are Edinburgh (Scotland) and Dinan (France) but there are a lot of smaller ones, too (that are in my budget). I love the fact that Somerset is specifically folk, because that changes the mood quite a bit!

I’ve got to say, I really don’t appreciate the preview/premier system; I wish KZbin would just do away with it altogether.

Mani Estacio Ah, I agree with you! It can be so frustrating to have premieres blocking up your subscription feed. I don’t often use this feature, but thought it would be fun as a community building opportunity for this exciting big video! Can’t wait to watch it all together and have fun in the live chat 👀🤗🎉
