Jesus loves you too my friend. He loves you so much that He gave His life for you that you may live with Him in Heaven for all eternity. It is a free gift of life. I encourage you to choose Him today, let Him be Your Lord and Salvation. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). He is the only way to Father God.💟🙏

A rich and lovely version of this well-known piece! The choir was absolutely up for it, and the organist as steady as could be. There are so many versions of this beautiful hymn, but a good choir is really what I always look for, and this one more than satisfied my yearning to hear it. Thank you!

I sang this with my choir at the wedding of a friend's daughter. Singing it is every bit as moving as hearing it. I think everyone had tears in their eyes by the end. Bach is sometimes tough but wonderful and uplifting music to play and sing.

This is the English version attributed to Robert Bridges (1844 - 1930), not a translation of the German stanzas but inspired by the same hymn that Bach had utilized ..... Jesu, joy of man's desiring, holy wisdom, love most bright; Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring soar to uncreated light. Word of God, our flesh that fashioned, with the fire of life impassioned, Striving still to truth unknown, soaring, dying round Thy throne. Through the way where hope is guiding, hark, what peaceful music rings; Where the flock, in Thee confiding, drink of joy from deathless springs. Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure, theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure. Thou dost ever lead Thine own in the love of joys unknown. [ Wikipedia, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" ]

When I was very young about 8 we learnt this in our church choir and I asked the choir master if I could have a copy of this hymn as I loved it so much it was the only one I ever asked a copy of so Bach had spoken to me down though the ages and in translation we joined with a catholic choir to sing this and they pronounced the Jesu completely differently from us anglicans. This was in the 1970s a very long time ago and it’s still my favourite hymn.
