Haha, this is so typical of JS Bach (organist) music : never cares about the fact that wind and singers must breath from time to time ;-))) He did something equivalent with the partitas for lute : he composed them on a keyboard instrument (lautenwerk), i.e. with his 10 fingers, forgetting the we, lutenists, use only 4 fingers to produce sounds... result is beautiful, but nearly unplayable ! But we love him so much.

@@JayR-uy8gl , every professional oboe player I have worked with can circular breath quite well.....they are so often called upon to do it, they regard it as a necessary skill. A couple of them told me that when they first learned to do it, their teachers had them smoke a joint first to reduce the natural inhibition that the body can have to controlling the airway in that manner; once they got the knack, the joint was no longer necessary.....
@kronik9074 жыл бұрын
@@youtuuba that last bit is BS and makes me doubt the rest of your comment. I learned to circular breathe playing tuba, mostly as a party trick. There is no special breathing technique. You just fill your mouth with air, use your tongue to block off your throat, and breathe in very sharp and quick through your nose, while you use your tongue and cheek muscles to compress the air in your mouth. Then unblock your throat from your mouth and continue to play as normal till you need another short breath. Describing it was harder than actually doing it. It feels very natural when you do it, and only works on instruments that don't require a ton of airflow. EG: It's probably possible to do on a flute, but it would be way harder. I guess a joint might help people relax and stop thinking so hard about it because it isn't as difficult as the general media makes it out to be.

Why these singers perform this piece so incredibly well... is literally written on their faces... love and modesty. Probably THE essence that made it possible for Bach to write such divine music. As many others already commented here... their German pronunciation is not only perfectly German - even for a German native speaker it is a truly beautiful pronunciation almost no German is able to speak. Really asking myself where they have learnt it! :) That the British have extremely talented musicians is a well known phenomenon. Mais que c’est merveilleusement bien fait. J’en suis très touché. Quelle symbiose, délicatesse et puis l’artiste à l’hautbois est un chanteur à la classe ultra supérieure! Délicieux !!!

Wonderful and Heart Breaking Interpretation of the Choral. The oboist as well as the musician on the organ play with their full heart - and that is the soul and found of this Song . And the singers of the group voces8 are a masterclass of its own. Wonderful!

I love the way the organist is doing his own bit of directing. 1:36

Nick Deutsch, I just ran across this KZbin post while searching for something good to "sign me off" of the world wide web for the night. It was perfectly wonderful to stumble upon your performance! I'm happy to know that more than 1.5 million others have listened to this!

This is absolute perfection. I have never heard this played and sung more sublimely.
