The biggest red flag is that Luffy doesn't have his straw hat. No way he'd go ANYWHERE without it. He's had people hold it for him temporarily, but he doesn't mention it nor do we see it. Idk seems out of character for our crackhead

i am gonna put my theory here since it answers yours. the hat thing can be explained by him having a hat and not noticing its not his straw hat. then, the fact that the giants can smell the aroma of the rabbit cooked signals its not compelitely an illusion if it even is one. the namy baton/sword thing, is probably a cosmetic add by who brought them, i mean they gave usopp a beard. the castle they are in seems to be sized for the animals inside, and while big, seems to be kinda human sized. my guess is that someone imortant, maybe the sung god's kid or something took them in as pets because they are small and cute, and they have a habit of it so it seems because you can see human skulls in the panel where usopp falls near nami. the gear 4 thing might be because it was a transformation for just that attack, and the axe thing might be because that panel was drawn a few days after the other and oda just forgot... i don' think its a hllucination, they are in a pet house, just a fancy one.

True, All is very confussing and strange. Also all of this make me think that obviously it has something to do that Elbaf writen backwards is "Fable" and maybe someone, could be Loki that maybe he is a kid (just like Shiraoshi on Fishman Island and Momo in Wano) and he is playing with the strawhats or is the villain of this arc, and he has a an awakened fruit that make certain area of Elbaf look like a fable or a magical tale. Because we already saw how Elbaf look on Big Mom's Flashback and when Shanks was there and is not a Lego themed island.

the uncanny feel from Elbaf to me seems to indicate that Stein Castle is not on Elbaf per say but Nakrowa - dreamland the land that Montblanc Cricket was hoping to find.

My take: The errors aren't just with Luffy - Nami has a TON of errors in her outfit. Her tattoo disappears multiple times, her belt buckle changes from flower to square, back to flower, her bracelets swap arms, her sword comes and goes. Then she wakes up from the quite high fall without any injuries. Add in that we KNOW Chopper is missing with this lot but hasn't turned up - he's the only one Nami didn't call for when she was in danger. It was only after she called for Usopp again that he suddenly appeared (she called for him, thought she heard his voice, called for him again and he's suddenly there). Where's Chopper? Nami doesn't see him as a protector so she never calls for him... and thus he doesn't appear. There's also character weirdness - Sanji calls Nami with -san instead of swan or chan, and also calls her his beloved (I mean, he can be simp but it's a bit too simp) and he doesn't focus on Usopp (who is hurt) at all (which is fucking weird because Sanji is always kind to Usopp) and his immediate thought after Nami is safe is 'food supply'. That... isn't like Sanji. It's like his character has become one dimensional. Almost like a dumb fan went - women + food = Sanji. The same with Zoro and Luffy - not only is Luffy getting his attack names wrong (because Nami doesn't understand how he names his attacks), but his immediate thought isn't worry over injured Usopp, but more food, and Zoro is all serious worry about crew only. They're almost TOO blatantly 'in character' and one-dimensional. Also, Usopp, who we know is tricksy and capable of thinking on his feet, doesn't even TRY to do anything while they're running away... This is what I think is happening - Nami is being played with by someone who has hallucination or dream powers. Her and others' details shifting around clue into this. She's not seeing her actual crewmates, but illusions of how she perceives them. Whoever is running the illusions has brought out her view of them to life and is using their images like puppets to play with her. The clue here is the way they're acting. Nami sees Usopp as being her equal, trouble buddy. He's going to be in danger with her and she sees him as below her level of competency. The fact he's not fighting back is because she's the hero between them (in her view) and because she doesn't understand how his attacks work (so it doesn't provide the enemy anything to work off - swords, kicks and punches are easy enough to riff off, but Usopp's plants? not so much) and so this Usopp falls over, gets hurt, but survives because Usopp always survives, after all, he's Usopp! Zoro, to her, is a serious protector of the crew who worries. Luffy is eternally hungry with no impulse control. Sanji is in love with her and feeds the crew. Sanji is the real big clue here though - because to NAMI he's focussed on her all the time, but we know that's not always the case - he cares for Nami and her safety above others, yes, but he's also very protective of Usopp... who he leaves injured on the ground without a mention. Someone is playing with Nami, using how she views her crew as a way to lull her into a sense of security. For what reason? IDK. My first thought is how over-the-top Sanji is (my beloved!) in his care of her might indicate him being Loki, slotting himself in the most heroic and romantic (he thinks) role among her crewmates to make her fall for him. Little does he know he's picked the completely wrong person for that job. Also, someone hides around a corner while watching Nami in one panel.

Um Luffy didn't pass on eating the cat. He says he wonders how this one would taste and wonders if there are bigger ones. As for everyone saying his straw hat is missing it might just be under the massive fluffy cloak he's wearing. It just might not fit neatly over it like with the thin captains jacket from wano or a thinner cloak like sanjis. The sword on nami's back is there pretty consistently in more detailed panels but not it less detailed panels. Maybe just forgotten but could just be annoying to draw in every action scene since it's not important for every scene. Nami has a sword with her outfit cool, is she gonna fight with it probably not, by the end of the chapter maybe she just dropped it after falling from high up. As for Luffy sword turning into an axe. That's just two panels maybe oda went with sword but on close up thought maybe an axe would be better. Sanji being scared of tiny critters versus giant ones may be different. Zoro isn't acting off he's being logical 'hey where's our ship, probably near the sea wherever that is' doesn't scream hey I know where to go. Oh well we will see if these lil inconsistencies keep happening next chapter.

One other possible sign that we are NOT on Elbaf is that the title is called "Adventure in the Land of Mystery." Normally the "Adventure In..." titles are a little more direct. I expect that when we get to Elbaf Proper that it will hav "Adventure in the Land of Giants" as the title.

When i first read the chapter, even though I didn't notice the inconsistencies I did feel like the entire chapter's _presentation_ was off. I'm not an artist so i can't pinpoint *why*, but I distinctly remember thinking that something about the way a couple of the panels were structured and how the scenes flowed between each other felt "floaty" to me. The biggest example of that uncanny effect is the panel where Usopp gets hit by the cat. Doesn't Nami just look superimposed over the panel, like some sort of reality TV pop in? The perspective doesn't show Nami reaction from her position in the scene at all which isn't at all how I expect Oda to draw the scene. Normally I wouldn't voice out these opinions because I'd just assume it's a one off thing, but now with the theories popping up it seems genuinely relevant. Me getting these uncanny vibes BEFORE hearing about these theories means I arrived at that feeling free from any bias. If this chapter truly turns out to be a hallucination/toybox/dream then I think Oda actually changed his drawing style this chapter just to emphasise it.

oh honey you are getting your ancient mythologies mixed up. but there is something definitely weird about the recent inconsistencies. I like to think that it is Loki the god of mischief doing some mischief with illusion magic of an illusion devil fruit of some kind. btw the river Stix is Greek mythology not Norse . ps are you Canadian like me ?

@@booksandtropes oh ok yeah it is possible that Oda would mix some mythologies together but i find it unlikely that he will mix greek and norse together. But it is possible. And i also personally think that long ring long land is somehow where laugh tale is or it has something to do with it for sure or at least something to do with the rising water levels. Keep up the good work ill be happy to hear your theories fellow Canadian 😁
