@Real_Iron_Smith2 жыл бұрын
@@grimbles39 No, it's a primarily user generated Virtual Reality chatroom. The basic premise is that you can enter various "worlds" or servers/rooms and chat with people in VR, wearing whatever skin you have. However, since worlds and skins can be uploaded by users, various video game assets, and entire games have been ported into VRchat, with others creating entirely custom bodies or landscapes. Everything from clubs to DOOM ports, puzzles or mazes, or pretty much anything else you can make in Unity(I believe) can be found in VRchat. NSFW content is officially banned from public worlds and avatars, but there are some users who host private worlds for such things, but the moment it's seen in a public world, users are permabanned. Meanwhile, Meta's Metaverse Horizons has legless avatars that are only about as customizable as a Mii from 2008, and the chatrooms are... bland and sterile, not to mention apparently they want to implement NFTS. Meanwhile, in VRchat, you can have a conversation with a random man in Australia who has some random Anime Avatar while playing golf in some space landscape while optimus prime and Wario have a boxing match 32 feet away, all while dressed as Hank Hill and carrying a Glock you found.

People can always sell what is already being stolen for a profit. That is the only way I can see anyone being cool with ads in VR. Tech giants are missing out by not paying people for their stolen logistical info. People trick the algorithms otherwise leading to ultimate financial loss that could otherwise be utilized for the betterment of everyone. If people were respected and paid users to sit through their ads and get logistical data stolen they'd get more precise and lucrative data than people just tuning it out outright. Honestly I love the idea behind the metaverse, but I think that if something like that is created, it needs to be done by the VR community itself and it has to be open source. The way facebook pitches it just makes it feel like they want control over the next stage of the internet when it happens.
@nealgamingchannel10003 жыл бұрын
Because they do want control over it imagine all the information they already have on us, you can’t legitimately run a “successful” business without advertisement on Facebook, youtube, etc. They control the narrative already, people for the most part don’t read newspapers anymore, they don’t sit down and watch the five o clock news, most people get their information from Facebook or social media in general. If they can control that imagine what they can do when our reality gets mixed in with their idea of reality. I’m all for vr I use it casually and mostly just play games with my friends and I know it can be used for much more than that but meta or Facebook spending literal billions of dollars and thousands of man hours into something that they claim they want to share with everyone else makes me nervous to say the least, I just don’t trust them.

I'm new to VR, and I think it is an incredible thing. The other night, I met up with a friend from Australia and we played cards against humanity among other things while just chatting as if we were in the same room. Then it got late for me in the US and I had to get some sleep. So, as we parted ways we hugged and waved. With Facebook's new announcements (I will never call them Meta) I felt like I was watching Mark Zuckerberg showing us a weird dystopian future operated by a band of corporations. I absolutely despise Facebook for claiming the name Meta. It's like they are taking all of the experiences and creations that have happened in the virtual world and are claiming to be the ones behind it all when they aren't. They may supply the doorway into the virtual space. But all the worlds I've been to in VRChat and all the avatars I've seen have all come from people and raw passion. My fear is that if Facebook's vision comes to fruition, this new virtual frontier will become less organic and more industrial.

Most don’t even ask u for permission. Do you know what cookies do? They can monitor everything you are doing on that website or across websites. Basically see websites you’ve visited what you’ve recently searched for, your ip (which is basically like your home address) and all. The internet isn’t safe or private at all if you don’t happen to have one shitload of protection from it. Facebook for one is also not known for really doing anything for user privacy by literally selling their personal informations and all of the things they like as data to other companies. Which is probably not all they do with that in case u think “that’s it?”. Facebook changing its name to meta and wanting to be the MAIN creator of a future in which our private lives are basically becoming more and more our virtual ones and having to trust them with all that information, knowledge and power would be as irresponsible as naive. I just found this channel. I'm an older man, so I've heard of virtual reality long ago. But back then it was too wonky, if that's a correct way to put it. The other day, when I visited a family member, they had this Oculus Quest 2. As whoever may read this can guess, I started YouTubing it. And yesterday, I bought one, but have not opened the box, wasn't too sure about the Facebook thing. But now I hear there's an update not requiring that. Now, although older, I'm not freaked out about anything, I love all this technology, so I'm going to sign up however I have to sign up to use this new device. Back to being new with this channel... I highly appreciate the conversation that this young gentleman had regarding this 'meta' stuff. Although his video is the first I've watched regarding it, I absolutely agreed with everything he said. Not that us older folks can't help with change, I do feel that this young gentleman and the rest of you young, intelligent folks are going to be the ones to keep pushing, keep demanding for an US thing. He is so correct this is about US controlling what we want, not some larger entity telling us what we want. Facebook states they shall create a shared space and let the meta be joined and developed together by different companies and the community itself. So far, based on my experience with FB, that is complete BS. As an example, in the past years they have been guarding the Quest API like Fort Knox, making any third-party hardware integrations impossible. Knowing they have been stopping others from enhancing the quest in any way like with full-body tracking, haptics or locomotion I do not have any trust they are going to shift their policy and suddenly start to do the opposite. The metaverse they aim to create will be a metaverse held by them, maybe with a few other partner companies who they will make some non-written agreements with to settle what piece of the cake each of them gets. And they are going to jealously guard that cake from anyone else and the community itself.

I am from India and despite what the local media says or the government says, Facebook has a huge role in Indian politics, ranging from spreading right-wing propaganda to suppression of religious minorities. How the government and facebook use each other interchangeably is sickening. India is slowly turning into this pseudo-nazi state which is more of an autocracy than democracy. most recently the local election in my area were postponed by the ruling BJP govt citing Co-vid safety reasongs but in reality the government is actually scared to contest in elections right now and wants some time to bail out of many issues. Unfortunatly public and government doesn't understand what Facebook is preparing. Here we all know that a metaverse like ready player one or matrix will be real in a near futur and Facebook want to be the first engaged in it, like Appel for smartphones or Google for internet search. When the hardware will be ready for public, I mean easy to use even for my mom, other company will start to build there own hardware and metaverse. Metaverse will replace mobile stores which is the must important componant of the mobile sector ... Not the smartphone. So don't worry Facebook will not the only metaverse but maybe the most popular.

I have found your channel , first hands down your comment was one of the best I have found . Second I am a lot older then most of your people I think watching you’re channel and I followed the idea of a real Metaverse since back in the 80‘s when we read Books like Neuromancer then later snowcrash and so on . The idea of the Metaverse is nice , but remember there although downsides . In the past there existed the idea that big tech companies rule the future with there own security service and own rules and laws and politics only became a game of those big company’s . The game Cyberpunk 2077 reflects those roleplaying and book ideas of the 80‘s . It shows how big companies are trying to Control us . This is not an advice that every kid should become a hacker , but what I loved when hacking grew up from its early stages in the 80‘s there existed always the idea of freedom . Look at anonymous I really love this group of students and young people who question certain things I am hobby programmer and internet activist . I hope that more young people question things that those companies represent them like you and some others do . I hope that more people try to learn programming and keep an eye on data Tracking from such company’s like Facebook . Keep up your good work . I hope my commend was understandable .
