@@yeastboyuk Hallelujah! 😍 I love him and am sad to say I didn’t discover his existence until way late. I was at a fancy company Christmas party a few years ago and introduced myself to a much younger coworker. He replied “Leonard Cohen” when I told him my name, Mari Ann. I was lucky for that chance exchange of monikers or I’d never known of his musical legacy. Dance Me to the End of Love, Suzanne, So Long, Marianne, Bird on a Wire, Famous Blue Raincoat, Chelsea Hotel… are my favorites. Jeff Buckleys version is SO gorgeous! It’s sad about his early demise. I love the The Man in Black, too! My favorites are One Piece at a Time, I Walk the Line, Jackson, A Boy Named Sue, Ring of Fire, Sunday Morning Coming Down (believe Kris Kristofferson wrote that)? This was way too wordy! 😂 Oh Well! ☺️

His performance of A little help with my friends at Woodstock was one of the best of all the bands. Mad Dogs & Englishman. Great stuff from a great time.

Anybody else remember a Beatles moment where they sang in front of an audience while everybody sat around and enjoyed the music. Very similar here. Wish I was there.

Joe is the best. I've never noticed it before, but Jason Segel is almost a dead ringer to Joe. With a beard, he could definitely play him in a movie. Nobody can recreate that voice though :(

this is a weird one! in my experience, midnight special was mostly live performances, not lip synced. later on in the show's run, it seems like more bands mimed to the album track. this one looks like only the vocals are live. the drummer is doing something weird and the guitar and bass aren't plugged in. no amps on the stage. i wonder why they chose to do it this way?!
@toastertwo160215 күн бұрын

Chris Stainton of The Grease Band.
@KittyGrizGriz15 күн бұрын
Chris Stainton played keyboards & organ on the “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” tour with Joe Cocker & Leon Russell, in 1970. My gosh, I SO wish I’d been born 10 years earlier, to witness that tour live! 😍 Anyone who did, count yourself VERY lucky! I still need to buy that double album; it was recorded at the famed Fillmore East in Manhattan, NYC.
@waynegram890715 күн бұрын
@KittyGrizGriz Chris Stainton wasn't in any other bands before or after the mad dogs and Englishmen band?
@KittyGrizGriz15 күн бұрын
@@waynegram8907 I’m afraid you’ll have to google him, Wayne. Way too many bands and tours to mention here… unfortunately. Chris is a musician-machine and still touring with Eric Clapton as of 2024… at the ripe ol’ age of 80. What a long lived career ~ a lucky man! 🎹 Btw, he also plays the bass 🎸 my favorite instrument.

This can’t have been filmed in 1974. The Grease Band had already split from Joe way before that.

I think Joe Cocker is really good. But I think this cover - it’s a Beatles song, right? - isn’t the best for his normal vocal range. I haven’t heard this version of this song until tonight.
