A student asked me a question today about the cGMP and nitrous oxide pathway, I explained all and gave as an example the nitrate meds contraindicated on patients taking viagra, and how it inhibits Cyclic GMP phosphodiesterase. After explaining al the biochemistry and pharmacology, I made the student watch this video.

ER staff also need to ask which medications patients are taking. An ER nurse tried to give me nitrates without asking, and I was on Adcirca - which is in the same drug class as Viagra. My watching this movie and remembering this scene, prompting me to ask what pills they were giving me and then refusing, probably saved my life that day.
