We take a different approach with the channel and ask you guys for your feedback. We decide to concentrate more on the technical side as opposed to the drama, what do you think?
Also, Isaac cracks right on with his first A-series mini 1275

Lee, please ignore clickbait, problems with customers part of running a business. As a 71 old watching Isaac with the A Series engine brings back some good memories of building them myself. P.S. Early mini 850, 1,000, 1,100, 1300 did NOT have a timing chain tensioner was always a weak point. Keep to the informative stuff so all subscribers can learn something. Many thanks Dave in Guernsey, Channel Islands.

Timing chain tensioner was a couple of rubber rings around the cam sprocket.
@geoffgoodworth
@geoffgoodworth 5 ай бұрын
@@JohnGlover-e5c Correct. That was the case with all the early A series engines going back to the A 30 which all had a single row timing chain - with the two rubber tensioner rings. Leyland Australia pulled the shutters down late in 1974 so the memory is a bit vague and I did not keep any of the manuals I had. From memory, the first double row timing chains we saw on the A Series were the Cooper S engines but they were used on the B Series and I can't remember what was used on the 1275cc blocks with no side plates - the engine we used in a Morris 11 S with the same head as the 1275cc Midget. I remember putting a double row timing chain in what was for all intents and purposes a Mk IIA Sprite engine that I put in an Austin A40 Farina. With a single 1.5" HS4 carb, the A40 would do 105mph before it ran out of breath.

Nice to see a big two stroke! I had a 490 Maico that had a decompressor and annoyingly the kickstart on the left which was weird, but God I loved that bike!!! Wish I still had it. You don't need clickbait, people who watch regularly will watch anyway regardless.

For fitting a mini A series to an engine I used to fit to the front of the block - from memory I used the alternator mounting bosses and drilled the engine stand to match - engine was transverse to the axis of the engine stand instead of being inline

The early A Series engines used to have rubber (?Neoprene?) rings on the camshaft sprocket to tension the chain. I`ve also seen some Fiat engines with specially shaped chain links that would throw out under centrifugal force to take up chain slack!

Here's an idea for future videos - maybe even a series. The machine room is full of interesting equipment, some of it looking pretty old. How about a series of short videos talking about each machine: who made it, when was it made, what does it do, quick how it works, what it's worth, could it be replaced, with what, again how much...?
