Some spirits become a haunting if they leave this physical world without finishing a task they were in the process of working on. I wonder if, when the wife was still alive but stroke stricken, she was taken to the trimmed down Hmong wedding? It sounds like she wasn't and that explains why in her mind it hasn't happened yet, and she died thinking she left a task undone. Maybe if the bride & groom had assured her (when she was still alive) that there was nothing for her to do, then she wouldn't have this unfinished task stuck in her head like a broken record.
