I have never seen any explanation regarding the reasoning behind an experienced Royal Rumble veteran in Randy Savage trying to f##king pin Yokozuna during the Rumble. Absolutely ridiculous. If this was the scripted way for Savage to get eliminated it’s embarrassing and shocked he didn’t refuse to do that. It made him look like an inexperienced jobber.

Good question. I've always looked at is as instinct to pin after his elbow drop and getting caught up in the heat of the moment so he makes a costly mistake. But yes it's ultimately quite silly

Absolutely right. Savage forget. It was instinct to cover after the Elbow. But it’s not the only botch the great Savage had in a rumble. He also once eliminated himself by doing that jump over the top rope and hitting the opponents neck against the ropes. He was allowed back in and the commentators covered it up well at the time saying that he was allowed back in because he wasn’t eliminated by anyone. He technically eliminated himself. I am not sure If that was in the same rumble 93

Think about how great Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were and how they carried the company in tough times. In the 90s Bret won the Royal Rumble in 94 yes with Lex Luger but it was Bret they went with at wrestlemania 10. At Wrestelmania 10 the first without hogan, the best two matches were Bret vs Owen, Shawn vs Razor ladder match. Then in 95 and 96 Shawn wins both Rumbles. In 97 Bret technically won not Austin and they had the final 4 which Bret won. Bret and Shawn were fantastic and for me the greatest two wrestlers of all time. Yes Hogan and hulkamania was great marketing and the golden age of wrestling, but it was Bret and Shawn who carried the company when it was on its knees
