Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on KZbin!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...

Hi Gly cool to see you learning the ropes! A couple of observations...you should never let go of your tail. You should have one hand on the descender and the other on the tail of the rope. When going down ladders it is easier to just let yourself down and not use the ladder so you have 2 hands to work the descender. If you are going down a tight space take off your pack and have Mr M lower it when you get down. Great to see you guys having fun, Thumbs up!

So please guys, double, and triple check everything before going down any holes. It only take a tine movement do finish of a mine as frail as that one. This was an absolutely terrifying way to start a Saturday morning. This is definitely a good example of why people should stay out of abandoned mines if they like living. I'm not sure what that weird movement was, probably a rock through dust or a sudden air current caused by rockfall, but there was something down there when you looked in on the way back. At 24:46 you can see something (a small critter, no doubt) flit from left to right in the hole next to whatever that gray collapsed thing is. I'm surprised none of those stulls had blown out from that pressure. Some of them are being literally pressed into the rock walls.

I was gonna post about that as well. If it was a dust particle then you wouldn't be able to see the shadow that clearly. The first movement I first thought was rolling rocks, but this movement doesn't seem like what you'd expect from a rolling rock.

That was pretty intense. All those sheets of rock could have cut loose at any second and that would have been that. Yeah, way to dangerous. I don’t think that was a mouse or a pack rat down there, I didn’t see any substance for them to eat or drink. Especially in the second level. I think it would have been easier to stay up top. If only dead mice could talk. Nor do I think it was a rolling stone (great song by the way,) because I didn’t hear one fall. I would think a good thump, then seeing something roll would have made more sense. Maybe it was a me knocker. (Tommy.). Thank Gly and Mr. M for another nerve racking adventure. Hey by the way what happened to Randy? Did he get lost or did you forget to put him in old Bob? Lol. Alrighty until next week, be safe.

Gotta say that this is more suspenseful than watching a movie. It is real, and, it is very very dangerous. I’ve been in a cave that partially collapsed on top of me. Some are just not a friendly place to be. The cave/mine in this video is one of them. Your voice is sometimes just enough to bring things down on yourself. Last time I ever went into a cave and I never will again. You may not come back out and you may get others hurt when they go in to see if they can get to you. Folks, ...as tempting as it is, just stay out.

Oh, man. I'm not sure if it was a mouse, spider, etc fleeing your light or a falling rock, but I was too concerned about the absolute deathtrap that mine was generally. Wow. Holding on by a thread and slabs that sharp? I'm glad you dipped out ASAP, Gly. I'd rather be disappointed by a dud explore than by getting no more videos, so to speak.

I had just started watching A&FP just a few days ago and I'm hooked. I'm very glad I came across this channel first as I've noticed the production value compared to other channels that explore similar places. I like watching Gly, who's experienced as well as takes great care to make sure that the camera is not only almost always rolling, but with nice, quality shots so the camera has time to focus. I think his name is Frank who operates another channel similar to Gly's, they collaborate often, I think its great! I love the channel and I look forward to watching all of your explorations to see whats out there!

I am just so intrigued by some of the mines you explore or try to explore. The first mine in the video that you tried to get into had me so intrigued since it hasn't been touched in such a long time! I see a lot of people in the comments speculating what that was that moved beneath the sand like that, but you never know it could be something no one knows about, some creature/bug no one has ever discovered before. I'm so excited for what you explore next, and was also curious if you and Mr. M would be returning to the Ep. 80 mine since now you have the gear? Thanks again for making all the great content!! :)

May not have gone very deep, but I think it's amazing to see rock in this kind of state. Terrifying! But incredibly unique, and not something most would see in their life. There was a section in the especially dodgy part that just looked like...splintered or shredded wood. Thanks for going down into these, fellas!

You can't win them all Gentlemen, the quality of the V.T. and commentary is fantastic some of the best I have seen on mining channels. Remember it is better to live to fight another day, it's just good old common sense ( not much of that around these days ). Stay safe and sound guys and keep up the good work, it is appreciated. Many thanks from Wales.

I'm pretty new to this channel, but that was definitely the nastiest-looking mine I've seen so far. Those rocks looked like they were hanging on by a thread. It's interesting how, depending on the conditions, a 100+ year old mine can be damn near pristine, and an 80 year old mine can be on the verge of catastrophic failure. I could practically sense your "NOPE" meter going off when you saw those walls.

I was a submariner that at times climbed into a 21 inch torpedo tube. That shaft looks way too tight for even me. Those mines are dangerous beyond words. I hope Gly stays safe, but you can only cheat death for so long. Good luck Gly.
