I always use the product number (pmpx-4b-ch) when I do searches because the naming convention of Sig's MPXs is terrible. I wish they would just use generation numbering. I appreciate the update on this gun and hopefully you get the chance to suppress it sooner rather than later so we can finally get to the bottom of these suppression accuracy and precision concerns related to tri-lug vs direct thread. I have an obsidian 9 that I'm waiting on for mine.

So, it's back from Sig and a follow-up video is on it's way...but first I have to get my SHOT Show videos out. BTW, I did not opt for the tri-lug because I wanted something more universal (that could be used on pistols, "pistols," and rifles, so I went with Silencerco's ASR quick disconnect system.

I am currently at SHOT Show and I just received a call that my Copperhead K has arrived at my office in Baltimore. So when I get back, we’ll see if they were able to remove the brake, or if they just put a new barrel on. Right now it’s just sitting in a box that I can’t wait to open.

Got the wolfman for my copperhead k just waiting for it to clear quick question was there any parts i should think about changing before shooting it surpressed like recoil springs or anything? Tia

Best home defense is situational dependent, but for a good sized colonial, with multiple friendlies in the AO, sounds like you’re tracking. I like the CZ scorpion. Not as fancy at that price point, but no problem suppressing either. 😂

I have the CZ Scorpion EVO K, which again is the shorter model. Sadly, I have had a lot of reliability issues with it, which I had documented in an older video,kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKCkkJ-blL17bbcsi=BGm2QF2C0BrDowx_, I had even sent it back to CZ, where they claimed to have fixed it, yet to this day it will malfunction at an alarming frequency. I have not found this problem with the regular EVO, but as I mentioned in the video, the compactness is a major factor in my PDW choices.

Pin and welded? Got pictures, let’s see? What exactly did they cut off and you could see that it was pin and welded? My muzzle device was not hard to get off. I applied some heat and came right off.

@@DrTacOkay, great. So it wasn’t pin and welded. Didn’t think so. Whoever you took it to and told you it was pinned and welded doesn’t know what they are talking about. When I inquired about pictures, I was talking about the purported pin and welded birdcage flash hider before you sent it in to Sig. It’s easy to tell if a barrel has been pinned and welded. You could have already had your suppressor on if you took it to someone who actually knew what they were doing. It’s your business, but you should keep your guns far away from them lol

It likely is not pin and welded but Rocksett on there like all the new Spear-LTs. Soak the muzzle in hot water and it should loosen it up. I picked up this same mpx in 2020. Sig hadn't started using Rocksett until about 2022 on muzzle devices.

@@DrTac Rocksett is temp resistant to like 2000f. Torch isn’t going to break it without a lot of effort. With the Spear LT ppl were torching and getting so aggressive trying to remove the muzzle device they were pulling the threads out. Rocksett is great at doing what it is meant to.

This is so fricking weird, if you do some deep digging some people were able to get there muzzle devices off. I just bought one cause the price was so cheap. I’ll be bummed if I can’t readily adapt it to take a can.

I have the same pistol and we removed the device a nd replaced it with a three lug, so it could use same suppressor with the MP5

I am really glad that you chimed in because you can answer the question that many of us want to ask...How does your Copperhead K maintain it's accuracy with the suppressor mounted? I have heard that there have been issues with the trilug...supposedly, the accuracy goes all cattywampus...but honestly, that doesn't make sense to me....of course you can experience a shift of aim, but the accuracy should remain the same. What has been your experience?

People severely underestimate red loctite and other permanent thread lockers. All it takes is a few seconds of a map gas torch and the heat is enough the break down the thread compound.

Yeah, that's a definite negative on the Rocksett!! Believe me, we torched that mother before throwing in the towel and sending it back to Sig. Apparently it requires moisture and heat for hours...the recommended technique that I came across required soaking the muzzle in boiling water for at least 8 hours.

I appreciate you getting back to me. I subscribed really happy that you were able to get the suppressor issue fixed. I definitely plan on purchasing a 4.5 copperhead within the next two weeks besides making a suppressor ready the only other things that I think I will do is take out the factory pins that, hold the trigger group in and replace them with anti-walk bins because I had heard that those have a tendency to back out on this particular model. Your Omega 9K is a better choice than my Omega 45K for this PDW, but I have some higher caliber guns that I wanted to share it with. So 2 questions for you: 1. How is your Omega 9K affixed, tri-lug, ASR, direct thread, etc.? 2. How happy are you with your setup?

I am happy with the set up… mostly… I don’t have anything against the tri-lug, but I use ASR on other setups so thinking of switching. Other than that, I love it!

No I mean I put the 3 lug on the MPX Copperhead K and I’m thinking of switching to the ASR to make it the same as the rest. Sorry I wrote that confusing. I am definitely switching now, I show today and did notice some inaccuracy like a 6 inch group at 25 yards when I haven’t been seeing that before. I thought it was my optic loose at first but no, so I am going to switch soon and do some testing.

Me and my cousin just picked up one each at 1375 each otd and I couldn’t be happier. I was able to get the rattler a little brother at an insane price and it has all the internal working of a standard k model plus a timney. The lack of dust cover and mono upper was kind of a downer at first until I realized they were able to shave almost a half pound off of this model from the k variant. Let’s go double stamped night stand gun. Woot.
