I was sitting here thoroughly enjoying this video when my wife walks by and says "So you would rather sit here watching a lawn being mowed rather than going out and actually mowing one." She really knows how to kill a mood. I would like to see more of your videos but apparently right now there is a lawn outside that I have to go mow.

Around here it's the opposite. Though we have yard guys to do the yard, I trim trees, clean gutters inside and out, clean mildew from two houses and garage, clean all the concrete, pull weeds from the gardens, and the list goes on....this morning, hubby told me I need to take the day off. But I need to bathe the dog before the rain comes. These videos inspires me to get up and move. Just like when I watch Hoarders. I get up and clear out the attic and closets and drawers. I've been known to clean the fridge during the commercials. I don't have OCD, I just like to see things cleaned, and not burdened by things we don't need, use or want anymore. And, when I use to be hung up on cooking and baking videos. My worst fear was making bread. I've overcome that and can make any bread I want. I just love staying busy. Btw, I'm 68 years old, and realize one say I will have to slow down. But till then.....:)

I do enjoy watching a lot of these videos with guys with their lawn businesses and they're doing the different jobs. One thing that I noticed is that a lot of the guys they'll edge if necessary then mold and then weed eat or trim last. I like the edge and weedy first and then the mowing to be the the next thing and finally use the blood to make everything nice and neat. It might be just me but I like weeding and edging first that way I can walk to yard and while I'm trimming can look at anything in the yard that that needs to be addressed like a hose stumps cause toys all kind of things that might get covered up if I'm mowing

Would buying that Scag Cheetah be considered a bad investment if I was only going to use to mow my property?, I bought a building lot I'm building my home on, I have a 2.5 acre lot but I'm hoping to be able to buy a few more acres behind me at some point and I plan to cut it all. Love watching these videos also, I think a lot of people would have just cut the weeded lot without that much thought about the neighboring property. awesome attention to detail.
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. As for your question, a Cheetah would be overkill for just 2.5 acres, but it would last forever, that's for sure. Smooth ride on the Cheetah too. The platform where you sit is on a spring. It just comes down to what you like. You'd certainly have bragging rights on your neighbors!

Four months? Around here with normal rain that grass and weeds would be that tall in about 3-4 weeks. Plus the weedy crap would be so full of moisture and sticky there is no WAY you could blow it out on a drive and then roll over it. It would stick to tires and stain the drive.

So two yards side by side mowed at different heights. The tall one looks good the short one looks bad. Do you think raising the cutting height of the short yard would improve the look and long term overall health
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 8 жыл бұрын
No, it really wouldn't. That yard needs a major weed treatment and fertilizer, which it will never get because it's a rental. The request on those is always "Mow it as short as you can." Sigh. Because they think it will buy them more time till the next cutting. They just don't get it.

good videos. Personally I think you are underutilising a large mower for small residential yards, you also seem to be going over what has already been cut 3 times, is this just because you are manouvering the mower to get what you missed, i'm sure you are good at what you do, just offering refinement ideas

Is overheating with the GoPros a common issue? I just bought 2. How can it be avoided. I will be mowing in South Florida (Boca).

Yes. They overheat easily in direct sunlight in their skeleton case. Try to keep them in the shade. Also, the lower the mode, the cooler it will run. I capture in 1080p 60 fps, but often go to 120 fps to get the slomo. 120 gets it hot real fast. And 4K, forget it. I had it overheat one time in 4K mode and lost half of what I thought I was filming. :(

Hmm.. maybe I could build something to combat that. I was thinking maybe a little wood box with the front and back open. Mount the GoPro inside, and mount a little usb computer fan to the back. then mount the box to a tripod. Keeping it shaded and cool. Or maybe just a little umbrella lol

Everything+Lawn Care Ha, well actually I was just talking about this with someone today. I think it would come down to just something like a little umbrella, or just some kind of sun shade between the sun rays and the camera.
@jimmynomad8793
@jimmynomad8793 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that would probably be the best way to go. The problem though would be finding the right size umbrella. Do you remember those novelty hats you used to see people wearing back in the 90s, they were like a little umbrella hat? That would be the perfect size.
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 8 жыл бұрын
Everything+Lawn Care Yea, that would be a nice size. But this is another thing we talked about. Problem with an umbrella is the wind. Even a slight wind is gonna blow the whole tripod over. We had decided that a sun shield would be the answer. This would be a plastic plate, probably in white to repel sunlight, or even mirrored, mounted by an bending mount to the tripod mast just below the camera. And it can be small, because the GoPro is small. Like, less than 12" square, so the wind won't catch it. I have yet to fabricate anything but this is the direction I'm going.

which in your opinion is better, a scag or a badboy?

I'm sorry, I haven't used a Badboy yet. They are just starting to show up in our area.

+Something 2LookAt yeah, one of our biggest lawn care companies around here runs a badboy and they do excellent but they do have a beefy price tag
@Something2LookAt
@Something2LookAt 8 жыл бұрын
king dipper Yea but from what I'm seeing, they are a bit cheaper than Scag. And they have a stander! Wow, I'm glad you asked. I never really looked at them. But the only place that sells them around here is Tractor Supply. Not exactly a service shop. So if a Badboy breaks, where do you take it? I know my shop won't touch it.

Great job ! I didn't know Craftsman made a 33 ! I've been looking at a Cub Cadet 33 , it goes for about $1400. Is the Craftsman similarly priced ? Thanks

It's hard to find the Craftsman. Mine is 10 years old. The Cub Cadet is exactly the same, they share the same parts. I have Cub Cadet replacement parts on my Craftsman. My Craftsman I caught on sale for $999 10 years ago but it doesn't even have the electric start. Trust me, the Cub Cadet is a good one!

Thanks much for the reply. I'm just starting my mowing service this year and am still trying to get equipped out . Woowee, it is costly and I don't have one customer yet ! Not sure if I'm a dummy or what . Bought a 36" Vride but I can see a use for a walk behind like that ! I will have one eventually . I still need a good zero turn but waiting to see if I get a chance at any large lots to decide what deck size I want. I bought the Vride for small city lots , hope it pans out ! Good luck, hope you have a great up coming season !

For regular yards you really don't need a sit down zero turn. I'm actually bringing my stander back out this year because it just easier to maneuver in a regular yard. I have the zero turn because I have a bunch of yards over an acre. Good luck with your business!
