Cool bit of history. I didn’t know about Oliver Iron Age implements. Don’t feel bad about buying it. You’re saving history and I’m sure most of your viewers (me included) have the same problem of buying iron we don’t need. When you get it sorted, maybe plant some sweet corn with it. Maybe check with the Floyd County Iowa museum for info.

Greetings. from Aroostook county Maine. My grandfather and my father had the first Iron Age potato planters . Three different models. My father had the model you have with potato boxes and I had a 426 Lockwood 4 row potato planter. My guess is Lockwood Graders purchased Oliver Iron Age in or around early 1960.

A barn-kept, barely-used MF 61 1-row mounted picker with the correct brackets. Lockwood bought the A. B. Farquhar Iron Age planter design from White after they bought Oliver. The Lockwoods are the exact same design as the Iron Age planters with the planter and fertilizer boxes updated. Thats cool |Thanks for sharing it, don't be under the impression you've got to restore everything to perfect condition. I use to be like that with tractors when I was younger, now just saving them and getting them running if I can is enough. I'll even just save them and pass it on to somebody else as long as they aren't a dealer selling for instant profit, im thinking 2 County's and 3 Fordsons will leave here before next spring. You've saved a rare piece of equipment , now think of some younger guys and even older ones, that have a serious drinking ,drug, or gambling habit. They aren't paying child support they should be on 6 kids, are stealing stuff to fund a habit or don't even know what day it is and blow the whole lot peeing it away. You earn what you've got work hard and can see where the money went when you walk in a field or one of the yards you or dad owns. You bought what you wanted, and don't have to explain it to us as Dumb $#!T we totally get it from our own experiences. Take care

@@Oliver66FarmBoy I get that just like the spreader, I'm just saying maybe just leave it original and don't restore it,if you find the missing bits. Just be happy you saved it from scrap and show it as it is, so people still get to see it. If you aren't going to actually use it to earn income like your other working machines It's still basically a cool machine and near barn find patina like your baler is. It won't be buying the equipment that's your expensive problem. it will be the aircraft hanger to store all the restored stuff in. That's why I'm thinning mine out because it's all outside, and I can't restore it and keep it inside. My building has to earn my living as a workshop not collection storage.
