Your love for birds inspires your community's love for you. You made this channel to help us, and in turn we can use this channel to help each other. You've created a self-perpetuating support machine that generates even more good as it expands. In many ways, that's the greatest thing you can do--and you cared enough to make it all happen in the first place. Once again, you've made good from your pain. It's simply who you are, Love. You deserve three heartfelt hugs, followed with a high five.

Your video made me cry my eyes out as it is exactly what I have just gone through myself 😢 I recently lost 2 of my girls, not sure what was wrong with them, one had a lash egg infection, the other just died overnight I didn't even know she was sick. I nursed Florence my latest girl for weeks in my laundry, tried everything homeopathically that I could think of, syringed colloidal silver into her mouth, probiotics. You name it. Unfortunately I ended up taking her to the vets for antibiotics which I hate. One dose didn't do anything so I got another dose and she was dead the next morning 😭😭 my husband works away so I had to deal with both chickens and bury them myself. It was so hard one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. So I feel your pain. In this time my dog got a paralysis tick too and ended up in the emergency vets and nearly died. It was a horrible time for me and felt so lonely. Thanks for sharing your story, you are so strong, keep going because there are so many chickens that need you 😊

One of the hardest parts of bringing all of these wonderful animals into our hearts, be they chickens, dogs, cats, and beyond is that some day they will leave us. I can so relate to this right now! After a year-and-a-half of chicken keeping, I lost my ISA Brown Sweetie to a reproductive disease. 😢 The last week watching her suffer while I tried to heal her from what I didn't know at the time was the worst. And I was scared that she might have some type of virus that could pass to the other chickens. It wasn't until after the autopsy that I knew there was nothing I could have done for her. I wasn't prepared to lose any of my girls. And all the research I had done before getting chickens they all said that chickens had the lifespan of dogs. No one prepared me for how fragile they can be and how quickly things can turn. As devastated as I am, the other girls are relying on me and I love them dearly.

Its hard for those of us who "feel too much." Or are labeled as "sensitive". The fact is that we have compassion, empathy, and we genuinely care about those around us. That is amazing, but the highs are higher and the lows are lower and we FEEL it all so deeply. I totally understand where you are coming from. Lean on the Lord. Prayers for peace.

This video showed up at the perfect time. My beloved Matilda passed away yesterday and I am heartbroken. She was crippled and couldn’t walk due to a malformation in her legs. She became my sidekick and lived in my office in a fluffy bed. I sang to her and held her everyday and took her outside when the weather was nice. I was able to give her all the extra cuddles the last couple of days and was crushed when she passed. My 3 year old twin grand babies had just learned how to sing her special song I made up that I sang to her multiple times a day. ;( they are going to be so sad when they come back and she isn’t here. 😢

So, my days are spent making sure they have the best little lives, until they pass. It’s breaking my heart but I’m not going to give up. Chickens as you say, bring us so much joy. My last memory of my Ginger the 3 year old Rhode Island Red was her walking up to me and hoping on my leg to roost while I had her in my bathroom. She tilted her head to look at me as if to say thank you. The next day I held her on my lap and played classical music for her. I gave her a drop of water with a syringe, and she made a yelp and died. I still cry when I recall. I feel we are put on this earth to look after all types of living thing. Had one that had wry neck as a chick. Then it came back with a vengeance but I've had to keep her on Vitamin B complex, Vitamin E and selenium daily since. When she improved as a chick, I stopped giving the vitamins and that's when it came back with a vengeance. (She couldn't eat or drink on her own, she walked backwards at highspeed and she had to be wrapped like a burrito in a blanket or towel constantly or she would go backwards, running into things at very fast speed. Also ended up with her first 2 toes on her right for, completely pointing to the left from the first joint... No idea how that happened) On the vitamins, she is fine other than the way her head/neck turns and she favors one side which seems permanent from the wry neck and the limp caused by the toes but she can still run! Everything that I have read said, on the vitamins, given 3 times a day, can take a month to see improvement. Hopefully you see quick recovery!

I was amazed to hear Goldie switch her vocal patterns from normal clucking to broody-kraken, then to schoolmarm, and back again...but then, I began to wonder--what if what I took as "normal clucking" was simply the language she used to communicate with me? Thank you so much Dalia for making this video and actually all of your videos. You have taught me many things about caring for my flock to keep them happy and healthy. I have had chickens again since I retired and moved from California to Arizona, that was 13 years ago and since most chickens do not live 13 years, I have lost many from old age and a few to illness. Any loss is hurtful to our hearts. So thank you posting this. Also I would like to ad as I always do when talking to fellow chicken (farm animal) lovers and caretakers: please wear a mask when cleaning coops, stalls, pens, and working with the feeds. I got VERY sick because one time I forgot to wear it. My lungs are still damaged but I am doing ok. Take care.

You remind me that the flip side of the love and joy our dearies give us is grief and sadness when we lose them. You're brave and kind and sweet to share your heart with us.

Dalia, we are all so sorry for the loss of your feathered babies. You gave them an amazing home and life. Because of you, I have 10 girls and I adore them. I didn't think I would get attached but here I am a year later loving them. I dread the day when I have to say goodbye but we all know that they have a short life. Keep up the excellent work your doing and we are all here for you and with you. Hugs from Michigan

It's tough living in this world with destruction, disease and death. Having children, animals, gardens, they all call on us to live with both the joy that comes with the relationships and the pain that comes with the disasters. Find comfort in knowing you gave them the best life possible while you had them and your mission to provide for those who remain. Blessings Sister.....

I had tears watching this entire video. So many of us can totally sympathize with you. You just know, that you are just as special to your chickens, as they are to you. Most people put down chickens with special needs and wouldn't even consider trying to help them. You gave the them a GREAT life!. They were given the VERY BEST, because of YOU... Don't you dare quit. ❤

My journey into having my own small flock of chickens this year started with discovering the awful reality of factory farms. Though I had never been around a single chicken, I was horrified. Surely all animals deserve better than that. Now, as a newbie chicken lover, I reiterate what so many have eloquently stated: Chickens that are loved and cared for in a backyard environment enjoy a life few other of their species ever experience. That should bring every one of us huge comfort when we inevitably lose them someday. Thank you, Dalia, for giving me the drive and information to venture into owning my own little flock. They are a joy!!!

Dear Dalia, Im so sorry for your loss. We lost one of our beloved silkies recently after taking her to the vet and trying what we could to help her. It was devastating. I understand how you feel when you say you want to quit, I really felt like a failure. I miss seeing her every time I look outside and her noisy yelling demanding to be let out in the yard. Its so hard but it is worth it to keep going. Spring is coming! Sending you lots of love

Oh my goodness. This is just heartbreaking. I am so sorry, Dahlia. The amount of love that you have for your animals is tremendous and I can only imagine how hard this is for you. Maybe when you pass on, you will have all of these happy little voices around you saying "she's here! she's here! " and they'll all run to you and fill you up with all of that love that you shared with them when they were alive. I truly admire your tenacity and your will to give so much of yourself to them and also to us. You have saved more birds than you have even personally encountered and I'm so very grateful to you for what you have taught me.

My heart hurts for your losses… we need our Chickenlandia President and all her flock. Most times we outlive them..but I feel they live their best lives and we live them with , alongside , I will never get used to their passing , but like you, do the best I can whilst we live together . God Bless Pres and her winged loves ❤❤❤

Oh Dalia, I am so sorry! Hard stuff, for sure. I lost my beautiful Americauna, Pumpkin, to a dog in the fall, so I get it. I cried for days! It's impossible not to love something you care for every day, so of course it hurts so much when they leave us. You are a great example of what it means to love your animals well. Sending so much love your way!❤

I’m so sorry to hear of your losses. It had me in tears. I’m fairly new to having chickens and it’s been a joy. They bring smiles and laughter every time I’m in my chicken yard. I can’t imagine how it will feel to lose one of my babies. Hugs to you. I learn so much from your channel and I hope you keep it going. Almost finished reading your book. :) ❤

It was also my happy place....you inspire us backyard chicken lovers & youre doing a good thing❤ Yes, its hard, but God smiles on you for taking care of them....😘🤗

I am a new chicken owner. 4 backyard chickens I got in Sep 2023. Two died from Mareks. It was so hard to loose them I didn’t think I could keep the two that were left. But I’m glad I did. I get so much joy being out with them. They just started to lay eggs and it’s so nice.

I'm so sorry for the losses of your feathered friends. I try to remind myself and anyone else who is grieving over such a loss that their animal family member knew LOVE and had the best life possible and felt joy and gave joy, and that's surely no small thing. What you do matters to them and to us and to you. We love you and are sending you lots of hugs.

Thanks for sharing. I have chickens and I've learned so much from you. I've lost chickens too. I remember in one of your videos that you basically said that what we do for our chickens gives them a good life compared to caged chickens. I'll always remember that advice when I lose a chicken or any of my critters. We do the best we can and not be hard on ourselves. Your laugh and smile always makes me smile
