Thank You Everyone for your warm thoughts! Honey and I are making new memories and our walks are slowly becoming enjoyable once again. She is starting to take the lead more often. Every time she comes by me from behind I say "good girl" so she knows that's her place now. She was always shy sometimes, and a little more so now without her big buddy......but we are working on that. We will put something out when the weather warms up, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Honey does on a sailboat. The boat is on a trailer, so we can explore some of the bigger lakes on Vancouver Island and find so nice secluded beaches to hang out on. It warms my heart to see you guys still subscribing, I honestly thought the opposite would happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you! See you this summer🙂

The one main lesson I'm learning from loosing my lovley dog is how she tought me about unconditional love. I believe the people and animals that come into our lives are there to teach us all something, it's down to us to pick up those messages and learn to grow into better more loving humans. Finding you in your grief is deep and I appreciate your candor. I was bedridden for 4 years. Now I am not! Its a big deal to work your shit and heal and adjust to your realest needs. It is so hard and so heart breaking to lose a dog! My response to the two I have lost was to go out and get another right away. It was not that it would end my grief for the one that passed or that I hoped to “replace” her - but rather that I realized that for me to live without a dog wasn’t really living. Although just like childbirth - puppyhood is something we tend to block out - until we are there again 😵‍💫. My companions have all been unique . They all have challenged and rewarded me in different ways but above everything else? Each has enriched my life.

I'm so very sorry for your loss of this precious boy. I saw this video in my feed and had no clue what it would be about, but I was curious, and now damnit, I'm bawling my eyes out! I lost my Aussie, Nikki, at the age of 14, which was still not long enough. This was a dog who liked very few people and she would throw herself into a bear's mouth to save me, I have zero doubt about that. I lost her on Easter Sunday 2020. Still brings tears every once in awhile when I think about her. What helped me (and I am not suggesting that the same would help you or anyone else reading this), just wanted to share my experience in hopes it even helps one person, then it was worth the typing. Nikki passed on 4/12/2020 and 8 days later on 4/20/2020, a little black and white Border Collie was born, and at 7 weeks old, I brought him home. For ME, the missing pitter patter of those little feet was a glaring silence in my home. I had lost my wolf dog, Kodi three years prior to Nikki, we nearly have always had two dogs for the majority of our 48 years of marriage. So, when I brought little Angus the Border Collie home, he was not a replacement for Nikki, he was an additional "child". When Angus was two years old, we got him and us one of his half sisters. Angus was from their mom's first litter, and my little Freya is from their mom's second litter but they had different dads. Anyway, this is probably more than anyone cares to read about, but there are so many other homeless dogs out there that I hope you find it in your heart to get another one when your heart is ready. Like I said, I'm not pushing my experience on anyone, we just all deal with things differently. I just lost my 86 year old mother last month, December 7, 2024. I can't find me a new mom, so the depression from that loss is a bad one. But I know I'm blessed to have made it to 67 years old 3 days before my mom passed and I know that many people are not as blessed to have their mom into their old age, so I try to think of it that way, but it does not help. Anyway, I'm a writer if you can't tell (well, I love to write). I just subscribed and hope to get a notice of new videos when you are up to it. Your Honey is precious too, glad you and she plan to make some new wonderful memories. She may be feeling depressed without her brother, so watch out for that. May you experience the comfort that surpasses understanding.

They come into our lives and our hearts are powerless in their presence. Then they teach those that are ready. I don't know why KZbin showed me this but maybe it was so I could tell you something. I'm a rescuer. I have saved countless animals and held so many as they have left this world. I know the pain you feel because I have walked around without my heart for 8 years. My Millie was struggling so badly and though I knew what I needed to do and had done so many times before for others, it destroyed me. But this is a gift we give them. We take their pain away and make it our own. We carry it for them. I don't know how much room youtube gives for comments but I am going to try to paste in a very old essay. The language is outdated but the sentiment behind it is solid and true. Blue is only gone from your earthly vision, he will never leave the sight of your heart...I am so so sorry :'( ... J The following essay originally appeared in The Oregonian in 1926 and later was included in the late author's book of essays and poems, "How Could I Be Forgetting." A subscriber of the Ontario Argus has written to the editor of that fine weekly, propounding a certain question, which, so far as we know, yet remains unanswered. The question is this, "Where shall I bury my dog?" It is asked in advance of death. The Oregonian trusts the Argus will not be offended if this newspaper undertakes an answer, for surely such a question merits a reply, since the man who asked it, on the evidence of his letter, loves the dog. It distresses him to think of his favorite as dishonored in death, mere carrion in the winter rains. Within that sloping, canine skull, he must reflect when the dog is dead, were thoughts that dignified the dog and honored the master. We are thinking now of a setter whose coat was flame in the sunshine, and who, so far as we are aware, never entertained a mean or an unworthy thought. This setter is buried beneath a cherry tree, under four feet of garden loam, and at its proper season the cherry strews petals on the green lawn of his grave. Beneath a favorite tree or any flowering shrub of the garden is an excellent place to bury a good dog. Beneath such trees, such shrubs, he slept in the drowsy summer, or gnawed at a flavorous bone, or lifted head to challenge some strange intruder. These are good places, in life or in death. Yet it is a small matter, and it touches sentiment more than anything else. For if the dog be well remembered, if sometimes he leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling, questing, asking, laughing, begging, it matters not at all where that dog sleeps at long and at last. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked, and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream he knew in puppyhood, or somewhere in the flatness of a pasture land, where most exhilarating cattle graze. It is all one to the dog, and all one to you, and nothing is gained, and nothing lost -- if memory lives. But there is one best place to bury a dog. One place that is best of all. If you bury him in this spot, the secret of which you must already have, he will come to you when you call -- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well-remembered path, and to your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel they shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he is yours and he belongs there. People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper pitched too fine for mere audition, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth knowing. The one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of its master.

So sorry about your loss. It's devastating for sure, I know this too well. I commend you for being able to talk about Blue -- I couldn't hold myself together for many months, the waves of grief were unpredictable & overwhelming. The one thing I did was keep my pledge to my beloved golden, I promised her when she was a mere little pup that I would give her the best life I could and I would NEVER ask her to "hold on" or make her wait...if/when she could not be made better by a vet, I would let her go, with no hesitation. My goal was no bad days, no suffering for her. She had cancer, I tried chemo, it didn't buy her the time I was hoping, and I let her go 3 months later. It's been 14+ years. I have her ashes, I want them mixed with mine when I go, and sprinkled together somewhere. Love is forever & ever!

You expressed so eloquently our deep sorrow when losing the pet part of our life. I have had a dog all of my adult life and I'm almost 80. Losing the last wonderful dog member of my life had me rushed to the hospital. She was my salvation after my husband passed. It's always so hard, but I will always have the love of a dog in my life.
