I did a project recetly on German house's and got so annoyed at cars that were in the shot.... i decided to think forward and vue them as future vintage cars. Love the experimental pics, kinda remind me of a scene from men in black when you scrolled through them lol and recently i took some night shots at the barbican (inside and out) not sure if its a place you've visited but i find you can spend the whole day there with your cam and its interesting how differently each person can shoot it.

The process of failure is tough but overcoming it is key. I'm a graphic designer and photographer and I struggle with that almost everyday of my life. I've been working on a photo zine for almost 2 years and have hit so many walls during this process - in terms of branding, colours, photos to showcase and so much more. It really feels like a never ending process sometimes. But the funny thing is - I enjoy the process and the failure to some degree. It makes me realize how much work and energy goes into creating something that you care about so much. Great video, I really enjoyed this one!

Such awesome stuff, can’t wait to see the final product! I did something similar to this once in college where I shot digital images and then made them into negatives by printing on Pictorico which is basically just plastic you feed through an inkjet printer-then I took those into a darkroom and contact printed onto aluminum sheets to make tintype-like things. Always fun to experiment!

If you think that no one has ever taken a digital file (taken with a digital camera) transferred it to a physical negative and did darkroom prints out of it, you are very wrong. I remember they taught that at the Polytechnic of Milan School of Design 15 years ago, and that was not being considered a groundbreaking idea at the time. lol Edit: Check Bill Schwab here on youtube. He has so many videos with step-by-step tutorials and techniques about digital negatives.

Strangely, I find success harder to overcome than failure. When I take bad photos, I know that if I keep going and push through it, there are gonna be some results I quite enjoy at the end and that the journey will have been worth it. But when I do actually start to make good work, I become afraid of making bad one which ends up runining the creative process. It always takes me a while to get back to making photos. I just came back from a trip to Europe 🇪🇺 where I shot 27 rolls in 3 weeks and have produced some of my best work to date. Yet ever since I got back, I've only taken 6 photos in a month just to finish the roll that was still in my camera from my last days in Paris. 🤷♂️

i started taking more portraits on film, something i had put off for three years. i had kept portraits on my digital cameras for so long because i was so worried about imperfections, but after seeing so many people in my city shoot what were thought of as 'perfect images' i let go of the idea of every picture having to be perfect and embraced the fact that I want to get pictures that were mine and not just something that anyone else could take. Sorry if this sounds super cliché but i dont know how else to word it haha

My project is to think of a theme and then just keep on shooting like always and letting photos pile up endlessly without ever doing anything with them. But I guess just surviving 2020/2021 and soon 2022 is more than enough. Once we all have more mental resources available we might look back at the material and finally do something with it.

Love those Bacon-esque GAN portraits. On shooting cluttered streets : If I may offer my thoughts on this - embrace the clutter. It's never going to change; the cars and bikes and rubbish will always be there, and they're a part of what our world looks like now - so I think we just need to find ways of making work that reflects that in an interesting way. Lastly, as someone who has been in a LOT of those "Argh everything I do is rubbish" slumps: Stick with it, your mojo will return! 👍

Great video dude! I've experimented with digital and analogue as well recently. Fotospeed make A4 digital contact film which you can print on with any standard inkjet. I'm fortunate enough to have my own darkroom (utility room) at home. My idea was to make an 8 X 10 contact print using a digital photo I had shot in Scotland last year. I definitely think crossing over the digital and analogue world has huge potential!

I currently work at a nightclub in a hotel, got moved down to the restaurant, but working so much (although I love the people I work with) becomes draining and it's been difficult to make time for photography. In NYC, where everything is so fast paced, it becomes increasingly harder to concentrate on the one thing I love more than life itself. I get depressed. Lately, however, I've been trying to be more introspective on my idea of reality and my life as I see it. I guess this journey of understanding is a lifelong one and I have to wait and see how it pans out. Hopefully I can get back into my groove of shooting more consistently and become the starving artist I always wanted to be 🤣🤣🤣

perhaps projecting what you want a place to look like is the problem, cars are there, that didn't stop photographers in the past. Its seems to me the ever increasing nature of photographers to seek out (the more often than not) nostalgic, aesthetically pleasing given to you on a plate locations and subsequent results is stunting . Stephen Shore has on many occasions said he had little interest in cars as objects of design, the Lincolns, Cadillacs etc in his work were obviously the run of the mill vehicles that populated the America urban landscape, roll on to 2021. the seemingly endless stream of for one example pictures online of classic American cars against a desolate urban backdrop with the soft pastel perfect light show how more often than not people taking photographs are more interested in fulfilling an aesthetic than actually dealing what is REALLY in front of them in the world that they live in. Robert Frank didn't walk down the street and say, "those cars aren't nice, they do not fulfil what I want my pictures to look like", he photographed American life as it was in the 1950's not a photographic template of what we think serious photographs should look like.
