Yeah 100%. My old B18C2 used to idle like shit regardless of how many times I cleaned the IACV or bled the cooling system. Ended up selling it on and it did a headgasket shortly after lol. Poor bastard who bought it.

Was blowing white smoke right from the start. Knowing what condition some of these cars are when they come to pfi it wouldn't surprise me if that damage was already there and it just went from small leak to large leak during that pull.

@john maselli naw not $2000 they probably only had a $300 gasket set and maybe $200 in machine work the rest is in the labor which was probably not bad considering it's a honda you can pull refresh and install that engine in 6-8 hours easy

I wouldn't be surprised if it blows another head gasket soon. Decking iron sleeves flat with an aluminum block is asking for trouble. The aluminum expands more than the iron sleeve and causes a loss of seal. I can't see any other reason for a MLS gasket to blow at such low power. Should step deck all MID type sleeve aluminum blocks at least .003"

Do you all ever O Ring the head? To help it hold more boost and clamp down on the head gasket harder? Its not that expensive and they can do it when you have the heads resurfaced. We used to do that to the Porsche 944 Turbos back in the 90s. They would hold a ton of boost then and after o-ringing them we never had a head gasket failure on them. Just a thought

There is a hand crank tool that cuts the groove in the top of the cylinder. It takes about 10 minutes per cylinder. .040" copper wire stops blown head gaskets. Copper is hard to melt, the whole wire has to be red hot to blow even one spot. It could be a great service you can offer your customers.

Otherwise you could bring a hurt motor on purpose for this reason. The car is supposed to be rdy to go when it gets to the dyno stage. Most of the time there not and customers get charged hrs to finish it. Local Honda race shop is 125 an HR for dyno runs and tuning.

Ok...so when a car blows a head gasket on the dyno, it's not really anyone's fault and yea honda are simple to replace but that is an expensive repair at any other shop, just curious if the customer has to pay for it or do yall just repair it and move on? Dont really know how the dyno thing goes, I'd assume they'd sign a waiver not holding yall liable for any damages that may occur but dont know...?

It’s always number 3 if fueling is equal. You need more fuel in that as it’s the hottest one. 1-4 dont have friends on yhe outside and 2 is closer to the pump. Thats why I flow the injectors and put them in order from fattest to leaner 3,2,4,1

Can someone answer this?????? I have a 94 prelude si with the h22 when I bought it it drove to my house but it has over 250,000 miles and it wouldn't go into gear easy. It was supposed to be the the clutch cylinder. But it also has some riged up wireing under the driver side dash and the fan and starter is wirerd up. It probably needs some odds and ends underneath the car also. So my question is is this car worth fixing? Should I do a Mottor and Tran swap? The body is perfect. I will have$3000 to spend. Is this car worth fixing or should I cut my losses and move on to a more complete car????????

What exactly is dyno sauce? The only logical guess i can think of, is 3M vinyl adhesive? I have a bottle, which resembles their dyno sauce, which they always cover up with tape/decals. The spray pattern looks identical to the 3M stuff, and i'm sure it would also help tires get grip on the dyno lol. I could be way off here, so please correct me if i'm wrong.

The thing I like about you guys, is seeing you pop a head gasket and blowing a hole in the head, it was no nonsense, you just stuck your head down pulled the head went.. well welder up and get it machined. And a day maybe 2 later it's up and running, Life doesn't always come up smelling roses, but you guys handled it very well and that is impressive. I'm not a big fan of half assing things, I'd rather spend the money once then over and over again for issues like this. If I'm ever up in colorado head 80 I'll swing in and say hello.
