I have to admit, I don't remember what models I have in my stash, and usually buy duplicates on accident because of it. But I have learned a valuable lesson from you, Luka...if I add or remove anything from any model box, I always mark it on the outside. That's kept me from losing valuable resin pieces or wheel/tire combos that I want to use in the build. Thank you, Matt!

I finally made a list of my stash, including kit bashed stashed parts so I wouldn't "unintentionally" buy doubles or more.🙄 I then came to the conclusion that I have a serious problem,,,, "Hello,,, my name is ------, and I have a styrene addiction,,, "😕

I have the annuals from 70-73. Both my friend & I bought the 71 brand new. Mine was molded in orange with a butterscotch (same as the color used in 69-71) Still have it. My friends was molded in yellow but it's long gone.

Luka, I just had a similar archeological find. I opened my Dukes Charger kit from 1990 and I found my 70 Road Runner kit inside with it. I knew I had one of the original Revell issues of it. When I was starting the group build I couldn't find it. 😂

Have an up date for you. Found the Charger -actually on my work table. Molded in orange with butterscotch interior (not an actual factory available combo.) It has the440 sixpack/automatic with hidden headlights & the louvered hood. I also have an original MPC 70 Charger which I bought new. It has the Hemi. Was molded in White & was never painted. Several annuals back then came with the dragstrip Christmas tree as did some re-issues. I think the only other 71 annual with fogged paint was the Cougar. There could be more.

That ‘70 Charger definitely needs to be restored along with that Superbird/Daytona. Those should be re-built to look their best and displayed. You could probably take a couple of years going through boxes, and restoring models. That would be really fun. Thanks for sharing.

I love preserving old builds like this. Keep what the original builder did back at that time. I'll just clean them up and display them.

I have tricked myself in the same manner before. It can be a pleasant surprise or a huge disappointment. lol I sometimes put a sticky note on the box to remind myself what is in the box or if I used parts from the kit. Digging through the stash is just another fun part of the hobby. So, why do we do it??? LOL. Have a good weekend.

just did this a couple weekends ago. Unpacked a couple moving boxes and found some nice diecasts that went into the display case again. Also while looking for a kit I swore i bought (never found it) I found some kits I don't remember getting. It's like Christmas again!! haha. Also found I should focus on building some of my race cars because the decals may be iffy now. maybe get replacements for them or different decals. Take care!

The original Dukes of Hazzard Charger kit was made from that Daytona stock car kit. That's why it had the (incorrect) flush rear window, incorrect coves in the door (Had to be retooled to remove the door "scoops") and a racing interior tub. They attempted to fix a lot of that stuff on later issues of the Dukes kit. The Charger 500 comes from the same origin too.

When chasing parts options I keep a pocket notebook to list the source kits and the projects that could benefit. There is still no guarantee when a 70yr old memory, but it does help.

I have a Bobby Isaac Daytona in my stash, a similar "glue bomb" to yours. And like you I plan to make something good out of it. Looking at these 69-70 Chargers, it is interesting seeing the DNA that sprinkled into the later Charger 500 and General Lee kits. The 1980s General Lee boxing had what appeared to be a not quite stock Charger 500 body with no windshield wipers. The interior pan and cage came out of the Bobby Isaac Daytona. The MPC Charger 500 on the other hand had the stock Charger RT style interior and wiper moldings. Plus the proper 500 grille while the General Lee had that sort of 71 grille standing in for a 69 grille and the 70 grille mold went bye bye. The later MPC/AMT General Lee kits which became the "Country Charger" saw the return of a tunnel back rear window body with windshield wipers, but I don't know if it was the original 69-70 body mold or if Round 2 made something newer to replace the old tunnel back. The 1970 Dick Brooks Charger Daytona added a new wrinkle of the MPC NASCAR chassis/roll cage set up they put in their 1970s NASCAR kits. So it lacks the weirdo mutant charm of the Bobby Isaac Dodge MPC kit. If you could track down some of these Dodges I mentioned, it would make for a fun model car kit archeology video and show the interesting history of what became the General Lee in model kit form.

I got that kit in a collection I bought that had the same combination- fogged butterscotch yellow body with the other non-chrome parts molded in orange. I sold it on later because: 1) it's an ugly color combination 2) If you paint the components to cure the ugliness it loses its uniqueness and 3) You'd have to find the opposite combination of orange body and butterscotch interior and combine the two kts to make anything close to an acceptable color combination. And that's without painting the interior.
