The quality of the dialogue is phenomenal. For the brief look you get to see into that character, you can feel where he’s coming from in his own mind. He neither shows distain or optimism towards his environment, just a sense of neutrality, but with a dash of hopes he still holds on to. Quite interesting. I also liked the choices on the dialogue choice. Was nice to see that there was no “first safe bet response” or “alternative aggressive response” like you’d find as filler for a fallout game or something. All responses made sense and had felt as though they had value. Everything felt super cohesive and I’m definitely interested in seeing where this goes.

I have always avoided the "heart" function because I didn't want to pick favourites like that. There have been times when I was tempted to use it though, and this finally pushed me over the edge. I wanna show comments like this more appreciation than just a like or reply, so I'm giving in and using the feature from now on.

As someone that pretty much focuses instantly on the quality of writing in any project, this is fantastic. The dialogue along with the unreal, unsettling environment and the uncanny look of the creature is excellent. The idea that he's been there reflecting on this bleak environment for a long time really gives it a bit of a morose feel. Nicely done!
@WillcraftAnimations5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Hopefully I'm able to keep that up for the whole project. I intend to involve a lot of ideas to add some variety to the environments, creatures and subject matters, so I'm concerned about the risk of quality shifts. Hence little previews like this, to discern based on feedback where my strengths lie and what aspects are not as engaging, so I can work on that early on.

Is this project about depression because of how sad the place looks and that the only colors you see are only blue and grey. Those are colors when someone feels sad, and how the unknown figure looks at you differently like if someone who has depression looks at a person without depression and tells the person to take care or something like that. I dont know that's just what I think.

The limited colours of shown world gave me two primary associations. First was Abbysal Kingdom from Candle Cove, where only shades of grey were present, and even the semi-skeletal figure gives thoughts of Skin-Taker, who was from Abyssal Kingdom (and I hope I don't need to add, that was also a skeleton). Second association was much more obvious and of course it's depression. The world not only stripped of colours, but different, alien, maybe not in construction itself but in perpsective it is seen. Abstract, surreal shapes are little bit unsetling but interesting. The dialogues gives us all the informations about the world apart of what we can see ourselves. And they are great in doing it, because od being very well written. I think this project is great and promises interesting things, not in gameplay maybe, but in process of understanding with the specific worldview. I'm hyped.

When I asked for a run through of some games you were working on I didn't expect anything like this! A gloomy background and an unsettling, mazed ground is fair enough, but then you go and model this beautiful creature with full blown dialogue and multiple choice answers. He even breathes and dodges the glances you give him! But the best bit is the story, however small its so damn intriguing and interesting. Will, I'm not bullshitting you to make you feel better because of "depression", this is a real good start to a game. Just look at all the other comments. Question: Is this another one of those projects where your testing your skills, or are you genuinely working on this with the aim of making it a game?
@WillcraftAnimations5 жыл бұрын
It's both. It's a project I'm doing to practice modeling and such, but at the same time I intend to finish it. My biggest problem when working on a game is one of scope, so if my scope is to create something for practice and it's allowed to not be perfect, my perfectionist mind may actually be able to not give up on it. We'll see.
