It's been decades since I saw any of these tropical island movies. I'd forgotten how beautiful they could be, scenery, people, music, singing. Tender, pure love of the island girl and open hearts of her people. A heartwarming and perfect ending! ❤️👏

A very well-scripted version of this often told, classic tale of a robbed birthright.... peppered here with a sterling cast. 👌 Roddy McDowall delivered a wonderful 'opening' performance, with George Sanders an added prize to nearly ANY film!!! Beautifully filmed plot transition from English Gentry mansions to the wilds of the open sea on to Pacific Paradise. Once AGAIN an impeccable performance by remarkable Tyrone Power = always providing a memorable film experience. Thanks Anand Naidoo for uploading this rarely seen, and high quality 78 year old film. 👍 And OH..... A respectful cameo by barmaid Elsa Lanchester, who years earlier WAS The Bride Of Frankenstein....!!!

Myrna, Ben wasn't after revenge. He was seeking justice and willing to take his chance that he wouldn't receive it because the law in the 1700s and later - until more recently in England - protected rich, titled people. He was as shocked as the court was when Mr. Pratt arrived.

Great movie, great cast. Power, Tierney, Carradine and Sanders. Carradine a fine character actor co-star whose performance is always overshadowed by the star. Sanders always had a style of his own, graceful. Could play a gentleman or rogue. It’s sad their all gone but Celluloid heroes never really die.
@carolynargabright81325 жыл бұрын
Carradine lived to be quite old, his life wasn't too tragic, unlike, Farmer, Tierney, Sanders and Power, who all met tragic ends.
@sherrillsmith83806 жыл бұрын
What a wonderful, rousing adventure with wrong ultimately being put right in a manner that defies every convention in the days early 1700s and now. Someone said that Tyrone looked young for being in his 30s. He was actually 26 when the movie was being filmed and 27 when it came out. Gene Tierney was only 20 and this was her first big film, which no one would know because of her ease before the camera. She was a natural as Tyrone was; both definitely worked hard for their craft. The information about their ages was in a documentary I watched recently, plus the matter of films taking months in post-production and distribution afterward. Some films are made and never released and some now go straight to DVD. I loved the inclusion of the whales and dolphins in the deep ocean scenes. That added a lot of reality to a big studio production being shot on a lot or a green screen. Thanks so much, Anand!
@garyranieri38564 жыл бұрын
Gene Tierney's first film was 'Return of Frank James' in 1940 and she made 4 other films before 'Son of Fury'. Also, she was 22 when she made this film. Just wanted to be accurate

I watched "Lloyds of London" yesterday with Tyrone Power & George Sanders. Ty plays the role of Jonathan Blake who by stealth manages to keep the British Navy afloat long enough to defeat the French (Horatio Nelson at Trafalgar). Coincidentally in "Son of Fury", @ 1:08:58 in the street scene when Ben returns to London from the Island is a shot from "Lloyds of London". The young Jonathan can be seen on the corner just to the right of center with his stick and small bundle of clothes that he carried on his shoulder. Great movies...but I'm wondering if Jonathan Blake is an ancestor of Benjamin Blake. Cheers!

Did the performers have stunt doubles, or did they perform their own deep sea swimming? If so, they were good swimmers. This is the first movie that I have seen with John Carradine, Frances Farmer, and Gene Tierney. I have seen a few of Tyrone''s movies in my lifetime. He really was a triple threat in a way. Look, talent, and personality. Young ladies young enough to be his grand daughters crush on him. That's star quality that transcends time.

Yup! You didn't see me in my youth because I had the looks of Mr Tyrone & Gregory Peck combined. And I'm glad you didn't. My father in law thought that I looked more like Mr Peck, but I think beauty is empty & charm is a deceit. A person of a good & noble character will always be a treasure. I hope Mr Powers was that & all of us should aspire to have these eternal qualities that don't fade with time. I married a girl a few decades ago & I feel like I love her more today than the day I first saw her. We met as adults & now I feel more like a child in awe & wonder at how far we've come & what my bride means to me. She's more beautiful today than ever before. Looks may fade, but character is a completely different matter. I hope all the young people find their true love & remain passionately in love all their lives with their spouses. Amen.
