I say parents should be held accountable like those who have been on trial for the school shootings. Whatever happened to the scared straight programs? Little wanna be thugs!!!

Sticking up for other students is a noble thing to do. However the domino effect of that choice can lead to death, injury or a series of events that change your life forever. I made a choice as a teen to stick up for a friend against some young gang members who were bullying him. I won the fight and thought it was over. I was spotted at a corner store a few weeks later and jumped by several members of the gang. I was almost hit by a car trying to get away. They continued to come at me every time I crossed their path. Within 3 or 4 months later I made the choice to join their opposing gang for protection/revenge. I went from victim to victimizer overnight but I completely changed my lifestyle to do it and it changed my life for the worst. In and out of prison. Substance abuse problems. AND it all started by trying to help a friend from bullies. Beware, it can be a slippery slope!!!

That's why parents need to keep this stuff locked up and hide the keys in a place where their kids who have violent tendencies can't get to them

Unless they start charging parents as accessories, there's no incentive to be a better parent. Humans are biologically geared to do as little as possible.

If their kids have violent tendencies they need to do a lot more than lock weapons up. These kids need Jesus and a therapist

The same reason people are so rude in public and violent on the roads. Once one person breaks the taboo others will follow if there's no pushback.

I was gonna write something ugly. But u know, kids are kids. And I took have one. Parents absolutely SHOULD be held responsible for their minor children harming others. THEN, they'd be motivated to talk to and check their children before school. This ain't even a public school but a charter school for primarily immigrant Hispanic children...😢

A child at that age could get that from anywhere other than a parent and also any other weapon so I feel like the parents should not be blamed in some cases when it comes to stuff like this because these children find ways to get stuff and some parents are oblivious to what's going on with these kids they Mr Hyde at home but Dr jackal somewhere else

When it comes to kids they blame parents. In this case the school failed and let the students walk in through the doors without going through metal detectors with everything we see and hear these days schools should not be slacking. If he would have hurt a school employee it would have been much worse but since it's kids on kids violence it's not that serious to em.

@@JoseMoreno-v3n I can assure you half of those teachers do not check those kids thoroughly and they do need metal detectors at every school and the majority of them don't care about those kids until something like this happens

I have kids and they was able to get things that I did not give to them so I know it's possible for them children to get things on the outside and the parents not know

It's 'Dr. Jekyll,' and that was the good side of the character. Mr. Hyde was the dangerous side. Most of the time, the parents are not paying enough healthy attention to their children to realize that they are experiencing emotional issues, mental health issues or are having other troubles. These things don't happen in a vacuum, suddenly or at random. I am not saying the parents should be charged, but they should learn to communicate with the child, be honest with themselves about any issues in the home and not be in denial about the child due to their own shame, guilt or pride.🤷🏾‍♀️
