Sonali Bendre and Raj Thackeray receive Michael Jackson in India

Thousands of people gather at Mumbai airport to receive Michael Jackson. People in traditional attire with their instruments reach the airport to welcome him. Film actress Sonali Bendre in Maharashtrian attire along with Raj Thackeray are also present at the airport to welcome the pop star. Michael Jackson receives a giant garland from Raj Thackeray at the airport.
The King of Pop, arrived in Mumbai on October 30th,1996 at Mumbai's Sahar airport, in his private jet. Lakhs of people thronged the airport to catch a glimpse of him. Jackson was greeted by Sonali Bendre clad in a nine-yard sari and a Maharashtrian nathni (nose ring), standing with an aarti thali to welcome MJ, along with Raj Thackeray, Sharmila Thackeray and innumerable politicians who were there to receive Jackson.
The actress welcomed Jackson by performing 'aarti' and applying 'tilak' on his forehead, at the Mumbai airport.Outside, Raj had organised a performance by a troupe of lezhim dancers with dholaks, and they wore traditional Maharashtrian clothes.
He then spent a few minutes with them before he proceeded to the Shiv Sena chief, Bal Thackeray’s residence, Matushree, in Bandra East. Here he was presented with a silver tabla and tanpura, which are musical instruments from India.

Modern Singers like Taylor Swift have net worth like around 1 billion dollars, back then Michael Jackson had like over 2 billions, if he was alive it would've been even more. So ya there's a difference between everything. It'd be better to not compare them, Ronaldo is a football player, MJ is a popstar both r good in their own ways, so let it be that.

Michael Jackson loved India a lot. Even his favorite race and cuisine was Indian. He adored us. Not to mention the loving and heartwarming message he left for India when it was his time to leave. 😢 Also how he donated 85% of the concert proceeds to create 2 lakh jobs in India and didn't even charge his performance fee, shows what a big heart he had and how great of a humanitarian he was. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see him cause I was only 3 months old back then. 😞 Those people are really the luckiest who got to catch even a glimpse of him. You are terribly missed Michael Jackson. 💔 India loves you. And I love you most. #RIP King of Pop, Rock, Soul, Music, Dance and our hearts. 👑

He is quite intelligent if you watch his interviews and how he fields tough questions. The people who follow him are idiots. He makes a fool of them. Sonali and he being the same caste(CKP), he would have possibly assumed that marriage was possible. Instead Sonali had a love marriage with a ritually relatively lower caste(Behl) (CKP wear thread and studied vedas Behl's caste did not). Raj's uncle(Bal the manipulative politician) possibly opposed it as he thought marrying an actress would have ruined his career. Those are the rumors- I dont know if it is true. My guess is he was not such an angry guy then. But losing in love changes brain chemistry. Speaking from experience.
