Sonar the Angel Dragon [Progress 1]

A quick overview of the progress I've made so far on Sonar's head, including a demo of it in action.

A lot of dutchie fursuiters use their own voices. And trust me it’s possible to make those high pitched squeaks if you have the right voice for it.

I really, very much really, want to make one of these, but every time I try, I keep failing. I would love to make a fantastic angel dragon, but my "foam skills" have worn off after making so many realistic costumes. I did look at the tutorial to make this on CanineHybrid's website, but once again I keep failing on that every time I try (which has been about ten or twelve). I have also tried to look up on KZbin how to make an angel dragon head, but all that shows up is pre-made heads! I need some help... I mean a bit more than a little help!

There are some amazing head tutorials on here. They may not be angel dragon ones, but they really do help on building a head. They may not be angel dragon heads but you do get the basic idea of how to build one from something else. :3

I know this is off-topic, but where do you get hard-to-find fur colors? I'm looking into making ears and a tail for my fursona, but can't find two out of the four colors I need. :(

While there are many resources online for fur, so much of it has come and gone over the years, quality goes up and down, and some things just plain old don't exist... or you have to pay ridiculous amounts for it to be shipped overseas, obtain from exclusive manufacturers, or even have it custom made. So best of luck on your hunt! It's not any easier for me to find stuff either. The simpler solution? Just airbrush it. There are also a few ways you can attempt to dye fur as well, and some furs that take better to dying than others. Luckily you're only making ears and a tail- smaller parts are much more manageable. Research online for more info.

This is an old post, but I thought I would respond anyway- I know a lot of people actually have a lot of luck with, I believe the brand is called Rit (?) dyes. I wouldn't know how to go about doing the dyeing itself, but there's an official color 'recipe' guide with a huge range of colors to pick from. Not too bad!

I will most-definitely try this, then. The color I'm having trouble with is a lighter pinkish-brown (google "rose-brown"), kinda? Maybe I will buy a small strip of light brown and experiment with various amounts of pink dye to it. Otherwise, I just need a burgundy and a light pink, which aren't too hard. Plus, I really want to know the difference between green and white foam... and which one is most recommended. I use white foam (which always fails on me!) and I was wondering if I should switch to green to get a better outcome on how the head turns out. Thanks!

Green foam is a little stiffer and tougher than white foam, but it's also more expensive. ^^ But I like to use both when I work, using the green foam conservatively too :3 I use the green foam on shapes like the muzzle, brows, ears and horns which aren't supposed to be squishy and need the added support. I use the squishing white foam for making the base and for the extra cheek volume :D

Out of curiousity, what material are the little scale/spike things going down the back of the head made of? And where by chance can you get them. I'm planning on doing a suit of my AngelDragon Circuit (or Circuitbreaker, still debating on name) and am using your videos of Sonar as a base.

+Izumiorra Yes, the vision is through the eyes (it is a mesh screen). Yes anyone is welcome to make a Dutch Angel Dragon character provided you follow the design guidelines that classify them a member of the species, and the voice is made with a bird call device.

Would it be against the rules if I made a DAD with a moving jaw, dorsal fin, and tail flukes on the tail instead of feathers? It's sort of an aquatic-orca theme, and I plan on making it sometime next year :) I read the rules on markings and stuff but never saw anything that was related to dorsal fins and tail flukes...
