I think the scene where the little boy has his heart ripped out and puts on the headphones is so powerful. Even when he felt dead and was in pain music is what kept him alive. It's interesting because you can feel the emotion and the amount of passion he puts into his music.

My thoughts: The boy was abandoned by his family. He is remembering the day he arrived home to find that he had been left with the caravan, the dog, his bike, his music, and the sheep. He went into shock, his spirit died from the pain. No such thing as "too fast" because he feels he is already dead, not afraid. He continued to work the land and take care of himself (I thought of you while I was working). He often cries out, but no one hears him (reaching for plane). He thinks about his family and playmates (the two girls). Eventually he comes to terms with it all, let's go of his anger, and surrenders to the experience (falls to the ground at the end). He begins to heal, music helps this process. He is eventually renewed (new baby coming down). I love this song.

@terrinhicks-jacobs96305 жыл бұрын
Don't really have a full analysis of the video but the scene where he looks himself in the mirror and freaks out struck a cord with me. To me it represented that moment when you realize an aspect of yourself that everyone has already known (in his case his missing heart). Some people live their lives being heartless to others and realize too late that they have been that way. Him seeing he has lost his heart is too much for him to handle. By the time he has healed himself up (we see him as an adult with the scar less apparent) its too late. He is used to being alone. He fears that he will hurt others if they come near, so he isolates himself and remains in that state. He isn’t bothered to change, because who does he need to change for? Nobody is around him anymore. They moved on. He never got a chance to show his healing or his growth to them. They were ‘Too Fast’ to cast him aside. So he stays the same. Even down to the clothes he wears and the places he stays. Immediately after we hear his painful explanation to someone (likely a previous partner) why he is as cold as he is while trying to plead for them to give him a chance ‘I called on you when you were needed. You went M.I.A today, and I ain’t seen ya’ He still needs people. He reaches out, but nobody is there for him. How can he show people how much he’s grown if they don’t give him the chance? ‘I thought of you while I was working.’ He cares about this person. They frequent his mind even in times where he should be focused on something else, like his work. He cares so much about this person, that them not responding nor giving him the chance to show he’s grown and matured and become a better person sends him into his old habits ‘I’m too proud to look for you, I hope you’re hurting’ He’s spiteful, hurt and brutally, painfully honest. He doesn’t try to explain away or justify his hurt. He just says how he feels and tells this person he hopes they feel the same way. It’s these damaging ways that pushed them away in the first place. We then see him wrestle with himself, undermining the sensitivity that he knows he needs to show ‘Tell me what I got to do?’ He begs this person, trying to understand what it is they need from him. What he’s missing. We hear him say in the background ‘While I was working’. This represents his caring, loving side that he’s trying so hard to show this person. ‘I don’t mean nothing to you’ He assumes the worst, that cold heart and pessimism he developed from being so isolated forces him to believe that because this person can’t take him back, he never meant anything to them in the first place. In the background we hear ‘I hope you’re hurting’, showing the relation between this mentality and the same one described before, that he’s trying to move away from. You ain't got nothing to say (While I was working) This person is lost. They don’t know what to do with him. He is hurt that his ex lover has nothing at all to say to him, but what can he expect? You're too good at walking away (I hope you're hurting) The final, painful lines we hear in the song, the works ‘I hope you’re hurting’ leaving us with the feeling that he has returned back to his cold ways. Nobody let him show his love and affection and his growth, so why put the effort?

We need more sounds like this in the music game. Truly deep, almost like a ballad. Both the song and artist deserve far more recognition. Here's hoping that a record label is smart enough to pick a gem like this up with a deal. Edit: This song is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Heard it on a commercial for "Atlanta" and knew it finally got big

The cinematography of this is amazing! The song is life, it’s light...it’s pure. Don’t follow the sheep, blaze your own path...do it with Love ❤️
