I was there as well. Once it closed, I worked with Danielle Ferland at the Gap, until she got a better gig! The NYC life!

M. Resnik is the only opera singer on record who sang soprano, mezzo soprano, and contralto during the course of her career. Nothing stops this woman. She was very wise, many sopranos become stronger in their lower registers as they age but they dont train that part of their voice, so as their higher register weakens, they have nothing to fall back on. Regina was smart and continued to train as her voice changed. She went from a beautiful soprano to a brilliant baritone!

I saw her in this and also as Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret. Talked with her after Cabaret for a bit. Lovely and gracious

“Poor old Fredrik. And it serves him right too.” “….I’m not sure I appreciate that remark dear.” 😂😂😂😂 Wow the woman playing the countess is a QUEEN.

Thanks for posting this. I saw a Goodman Theatre production that ended with Fredrika pirouetting across the stage to play the final note of the score on a piano. It was amazing.

Almost 50 years ago at University my music major dorm mate introduced me not only to Brahms, Mozart, Wagner and Satie but also to Gershwin, Bernstein and to Stephen Sondheim. "A Little Night Music" was imprinted in my brain forever. Thank you for sharing this broadcast of a classic performance.

I have Company, Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods, enough Sweeney Todds to make a barbershop quartet on DVD and BD yet this play eludes me so I do appreciate the work.

Stephen Sondheim passed away the other day and I felt I ought to familiarize myself with another of his works. Though I never knew much about him, for some reason I long felt like we shared some kind of spiritual kinship. Between Hugh Wheeler's book and Sondheim's music, this was definitely a nice piece to take in.
