I have rarely heard such a Verdian soprano as Sondra since Leontyne Price. Her breath control, pianissimi, and diminuendos prove a remarkable technique. I can't wait to hear her in February in "Ballo" in Wien. Such a gift and so down to earth. She sings like a diva but doesn't act like one, unlike Kathleen Battle.

Smh I'm still recovering from this voice. How all of those people sat in that room with that HUGE voice is beyond me. Humor aside, incredible artist. Undoubtedly one of the best out. This is a voice you really have to experience live. Recordings don't do her justice

Yes, lovely tone of voice and lots of charm. I would love to hear her live in either Don C or as the other Verdi-Leonora in La Forza Del Destino. I have been listening to her Era Desso from Lucrezia Borgia here on KZbin and I feel that she make such good use of her pulsating vibrato in that role. Brava! I know this broadcasst is mainly for radio but I wish I could mute that irritating sub-eminent hosts "live" "in the lobby of our new bla bla", It makes me wonder if their listeners are senile.

She has a great sounding voice. She is just ALWAYS under the note. listen from 10:31 through 10:36 for example. She lands on the note (profonda) sooo flat, then the piano comes in and she quickly fixes it. I think singing under pitch is a common problem, plus she's tired from performing the opera the night before. I do like the quality of her voice though. great tone.

No, she is not always under the note. What you're picking up on are the dark undertones of her voice, which are very prominent due to the nature of her instrument. Her voice is very multi-layered, both dark and bright at the same time - very dark with the undertones, but very bright, pingy and with lots of squillo and shine on the overtones. If you don't have quality speakers that pick up on all the overtones, she's going to sound flat, even though she isn't. It is important to remember, human voices (especially operatic ones with a lot of vibrato) comprise a range of frequencies, but your brain averages them out to hear specific pitches. That's probably what confuses most people. That goes away when you hear her in person however, and hear that awesome voice in full glory. Big, multi-layered voices are notoriously difficult to capture in recorded media, so they are always best heard live. Having said that, regarding the note you pointed out (from 10:31 to 10:36), I agree she was flat on that one. But really, out of all the notes you could have pointed out that are supposedly flat, you chose the one that fell in the lowest stretch of her bottom range, which is out of the comfort zone of a soprano. I think I can forgive a singer for a few bum notes, especially when the rest of the singing is so phenomenal.
