Every time I listen to this arrangement, I get tears in my eyes because the words ring so true. Vocal arrangements will never be the same. Rest in peace, Gene, and thank you for enriching my life by your music.

A hush descended, a chilling silence deep No sound, no voice, a world plunged into sleep The brightest star, extinguished from the sky Leaving a void where laughter used to fly Through echoes of the past, we seek your trace A fleeting memory, a vacant space Yet in the music, your spirit still resides A melody that forever abides Though time may pass, your essence will endure A guiding light, forever pure and sure Your legacy, a song that will not cease A symphony of love, a gift of peace

If you full screen this photo of Gene while listening to this gorgeous piece, you will be brought to tears. No one contributed more to the art of modern vocal groups than him and that is why just the lyrics alone here are so moving. From the Hi-Lo's to The Singers Unlimited he said it all. Just ask Take 6. This is a perfect tribute.

Hi Guys, thank you so much for this beautiful tribute to Mr. Puerling. I've been listening to him all my life through all his incarnations. Great job. My niece and sons live in Goteborg. I seem to be running into all things Swedish. (you are Swedish, he said embarrassed by his ignorance) I hope you've got more of your stuff up. I'll disseminate it. :)

The lyrics, first part: Suddenly all was quiet not a voice, nor a word The most beautiful angel went silent leaving this world We search through the silence for something that was there just moments ago Silently search for a meaning and the meaning of music and flow You're still here as the music plays there's no tomorrow but todays You're still here, I can hear you now the skylark has never sung so proud
